Moonraker was one million dollars also. The credits had a bigger budget then Dr.No. yeah... there's another one. seriously, i really can't see how these facts could possibly hold water... think about it... one MILLION dollars. i'm stumped. i'd be very intirgued if someone were to tell me, step by step, how a credit sequence -in the early 80's- could cost that much money.

Hi gang, Been reading the forum for some time, since STM is one of my all-time faves. My name is Glenn and I'm a Norwegian movie buff who currently lives in Sweden. On the occasion of Supergirl The Movie's 25th anniversary this year, and also the 50th anniversary of Supergirl as a character, I spoke to Supergirl herself, Helen Slater, on topics ranging from being a debutant, to why the movie didn't work and her plans for a Supergirl comic book. Jump to news.planetorigo.com/article.php?poarticle_id=505 to read the interview now. Also on that site, reviews of Supergirl, Superman The Movie and Superman Returns.

Hey, I think you did a great interview, and I am really enjoying going over your site.
Good to see another Superman movie fan, especially one with an informed and mature opinion. I admit that I find it startling that you rank SUPERMAN RETURNS as low as SUPERGIRL, but I still enjoyed the read.
Good luck to you and I will recommend your site to others.

I disagree with almost everything in your review of Superman Returns. SR is up there with Superman the Movie to me. And I think it's a sequel. The bones and structure of the film are similar to STM BUT the meat is totally different, IMO.
And it's Kryptonite not cryptonite. Not that I don't make spelling mistakes, I do, but as big Superman fans I think it's essential to know that both Krypton and kryptonite begin with K.
Welcome to the forum, btw.

Wow, your reviews are all over the place. SR gets a 3, but Wing Commander gets a 6? Godzilla and The Happening get higher marks too. ;D But hey, it's your opinion.

HOW DARE YOU!
Fact: Venus was at one point just like Earth. But it was too close to the Sun. Also, Venus' continents don't drift like ours. Because the planet was too close to the Sun and without plate tectonics, the entire planet began to boil from the inside which led to massive volcanic eruptions through out the entire planet.

Great Slater interview. There was a time when she shied away from doing interviews about her Supergirl days (I remember her appearance on the Arsenio Hall show in the 90s when she acted completely embarrassed when he showed a photo of her as Supergirl). I guess the popularity of superhero movies today has changed her mind.
I liked your SR review. Those were pretty much my issues with the film as well but I didn't feel that they were insurmountable obstacles that warranted a complete reboot. I'm also surprised you didn't comment at all on Routh's performance. Did he make the role his own or was he trying to hard to imitate Reeve?

Agreed on the Helen Slater interview. Nice to read that her experience on the failure of the movie didn't destroy her as a person as well. It makes watching the film (or at least parts of it) easier to bear, knowing it didn't cause someone's career to be destroyed.

Remember a loooooooooooooong time ago when I pitched the possibility of a fan cut, mixing in Superman 3 and Supergirl and too much rotoscoping? After all the mental exhaustion of wayyy too much mediocre rotoscoping on SII, I'm not doing THAT fan cut after all--- but thought it might be fun to see Helen and Chris for a few seconds onscreen in a first fx test for a few seconds, thought I'd share: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0tTb0Sy42oBoy, do I miss them both...

Thanks guyz.... I'm really glad you guys enjoyed it, I really wish I had the stamina to go with another rotoscoping project, (REALLY burned out after S2) and actually DO a full Supes 3 with Reeve and Slater, I might send up a few rough 'tests'.
I know that Reeve was initially asked to be part of Supergirl, but had bowed out. The best part of Supergirl was Slater, pity that we couldn't have seen both of them onscreen--- at least we can see it through current tech--- if I do more tests, will post them here.... wil maybe do a rough one of them as Clark Kent and Linda Lane.... I mean Linda Lang...um.... whatever Linda she was in SG.... ;p

This is an awesome test. I've wondered if SIII and Supergirl, two very bad movies, could be salvaged by mixing the films. It's definitely not worth the rotoscoping to find out, but I appreciate seeing this footage!

that was awesome btw-
what would be the premise? supergirl comes in to help superman vs the pseudo-brainiac? would it be an amalgation of SIII and supergirl?- or just SIII with some helen slater in it?

Thanks Snoop, I was hoping that there'd be some interest to check it out, even if it didn't go any further! Hey Jorl! Originally, I had laid out extensive plans to mix the two, and use subtitles/ and a 'Krypton'-like gibberish for them to talk to one another in.... but my own disappointment with how long and how disappointing my SII cut ended up, made me feel like it was just a giant hornet's nest to dive into, if I did try it. Maybe a trailer instead.....someday....
