Reboots left, right and centre. Lazy and boring. I couldn't be more disinterested. And I couldn't agree more. Made sense with Batman and Bond, but that's it.

It did with those 2 because we never really saw it before, especially Batman. Going to see another back story of Superman might seem a chore. Of course I'd see it, but out of obligation. I want an opening like Superman 2 (the real one)

They're not rebooting. It's a relaunch. The only characters that will be majorly affected will be the ones that are fracked and nobody gives a poop about anyway. So, expect drastic changes for...
Aquaman Wonder Woman Green Arrow Hawkman
Anything else will be minor and/or cosmetic. So, a light Superman redesign/origin streamlining, and we can kiss the marriage goodbye (which is a good thing).
I also have a theory that Barbara Gordon will be Batgirl again. The Batman titles, despite the new number ones, are continuing as planned, as are the Green Lantern titles, thereby proving this isn't a reboot.
Any other changes will be the kinds of things that only Simpsons Comic Book Guy would shed tears over, and, to be perfectly frank, if the comic book industry is to survive, it needs to PURGE THOSE PEOPLE and start bringing in new readers. The comic buying public has been getting older for the last decade, and not enough new readers are coming in.

I wonder if DC will do digital comics for the older Superman comics? It would be neat to see restored and recolored comics .

It's already been confirmed that barbara is going to be batgirl. The almost official rumor is that perez is going to be writing and drawing superman. I am happy that vagina Grayson will be back to being nightwing. Though I am not too thrilled that it isn't a hard reboot, which has been confirmed by all the batman news that came out today. It's going to lead to some serious continuity confusion. They should either do a full 100% line wide reboot, or don't do it at all.

DC business model:
alienate CURRENT fans, to win over new ones.

Are there ANY hardcore "current" fans of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, or Hawkman who are SO enamored of the INCOMPREHENSIBLE BULLpoop that has been churned out with these characters for at least the last 15 years that would even be alienated by this? If so, they DESERVE to be alienated.
Comic fans are getting older. Our dollars won't pay the rent in another ten years. They gotta do something.
And frankly, ANYTHING they do with the Superman books can't be any worse than they've been for the last year or two. Sometimes, change is a good thing. And trust me, most of this will be such minor changes that nobody will care.

I'll be open to some change, but it depends on what changes.
If I get a tablet, I might check out comics again. There's not a comic book shop within 100 miles of me, and I don't want to pay for shipping.
That said, I quit years ago because the stories just weren't up to par. I quit Superman because of For Tomorrow. I wasn't thrilled with a lot of Birthright because it didn't break any new ground.
It's why I'm hopeful for the Snyder movie. I don't want more of the same. I'll accept some costume changes, maybe a slightly different backstory for Superman that can still lead to him being Superman. I don't want another darn Christopher Reeve. I'm getting tired of Christopher Reeve's Superman.

However, please note that there has yet to be any official announcement regarding the Superman books. I think that's what's gonna happen on Saturday.

I think that's what's gonna happen on Saturday. yes and no. george perez is attached to one of the main titles, as is grant morrison. and we already heard that lois is out and wonder woman is IN. or...superman is in.... well anyway. actually, as irritated as i am with Dc right now superman and wonder woman make sense. it's a standard approach to any 'future" narrative ( ie the follow-ups to kingdom come and the dark knight returns)

if i didn't know better, i'd swear that the PR for the bush administration is working for DC.
they pull the "citizen" stunt to generate interest in a title they're about to cancel- they announce a pending 'announcement"... only to let things slip because they HAVE to connect with retailers regarding product...
at this point i think saturday will be anti-climactic. if snyder doesn't "surprise us" with a cavill-as-superman pic (which will undoubtedly look like the new jim lee design) then we've heard as much as there is to hear. all thats left is the ship dates on all 52 titles, less than half will last 10 issues, and maybe the letterers on said titles.
if thats it then i guess jim moves this to the comic book section where it will get the ghost town look mighty quick... ;D

I was never tired of Reeve's version of Superman--- I just thought in the movies- it never had a chance to really 'launch' properly outside of STM/parts of SII/parts of SR.
If Donner had been kept on, and went back to the comics for source material, I think it could easily have gone on for another 4-5 films.... possibly even allowing the character to age and grow. (Which would have been cool- and THEN do a reboot at a certain point)
I think what a lot of people may be tired of, is a recycling and regurgitation of the origin & Lex and not going much further than the story material STM covered.
I'm fine with different- if it incorporates & is an IMPROVEMENT of the adaptation that Donner/Reeve offered in trying to blend in all the elements that were introduced to the Superman mythos in all the media by then--- if the new film is not as good or better than the Donner original, then it's just cheap flashy paint over a cheap duplicate, imo.

I don't think anybody is expecting it to be as good as STM - nor does it need to be to be honest.
"cheap duplicate" applies to SR really, lol

Reeve will always be my favorite Superman, just as STM will probably always be my favorite movie.
But I'm ready for a new take.

Well, here it is...Superman's new look. www.bleedingcool.com/2011/06/09/dc-relaunch-a-brand-new-look-for-superman-supergirl-and-superboy/Bet ten bucks that this is almost exactly what the new movie suit looks like. I don't hate it, but I sure don't love it. It's a little awkward looking. Honestly, I've seen better fan designs. I loathe the belt. If it were gold, it'd break things up a little better. Overall, I like the idea of it being a sci-fi/alien suit, as the idea that Ma Kent made it for him has always annoyed me to no end.

I have no opinion on that, not bad, not good.
Perhaps if they poured more energy into creating better stories then peripheral matters like changing the suit wouldn't be an issue
And yeah, they've consulted with WB on this for the new film

Awful. Though why does superman have to look so angry on the #1. I've not the biggest perez fan in general, so when the rumor arose I was disappointed. But, every change looks terrible. The boots look aweful, the belt looks horrible, all of the seams look really bad.
I actually thought the superman from the Lee Justice League #1 looked pretty good.
Though I am not hating supergirls outfit, and I am intrigued by superboy.

Why does Superman look like an android?
