To all 3-5 surviving members of the open-to-everybody council here: Thoughts: ---- Ilya Salkind and Margot Kidder will be at Wondercon! Wonder if they will kiss and makeup at this age, or if Margot will still call Ilya 'beyond contempt'? ----- Wonder if there'll be ANNNY news of another cut of SII- at all? (Probably not) ----- Why no Richard Donner? I'm sure he was probably asked.... but Donner seems in semi-retirement... ----- Can someone who's attending ask Ilya what he thinks of the Selutron bits on Capedwonder? Hope I can go. If I do, will share what I can (if they allow taping) here....

I wish I was in the right part of the world to go to this, opportunities to get to see all these folks are getting fewer as time goes on.

Usually SOMEBODY tapes these things & puts it up on youtube--- but I can't find any convention vids of Donner/Singer's appearance nor a lot of other convention bits with the SII folk. Don't get it, but hopefully somebody tapes it and shares it, if I can't make it...

This is coming up soon..... wish I could have gone.
If I could have gone- would have hit up Ilya Salkind on these questions:
1. Since it was an independent project (initially), does Ilya own the rights to the Puzo script? If so, could he make a book deal and have this printed for sale?
2. How much more footage is/was out there that hasn't been mentioned/discussed? Can he pitch the 'straight to dvd' sales for the ABC versions and get a percentage?
3. Alternate endings?
Hm... other questions?

So they will be there separately? I'm sure they'll be cordial if they meet. Margot's not one to bite her tongue though. Just ask the Smallville producers.

What did she say to piss off the Smallville producers? I really hope somebody tapes it and posts it on the web. Will link if I see it... (EDIT: by that I mean the Wondercon presentation, not necessarily Margot pissing off the producers)

When Reeve died the a Smallville producers asked her if she wanted to appear in an episode as her previously seen character, an advocate of Dr Swanns, to announce his death on the show. Kidder declined and in not so diplomatic terms said the idea was exploitive.

Kidder declined and in not so diplomatic terms said the idea was exploitive. I guess I can see both sides of this.... Personally, I just wish the show itself didn't purposely handcuff itself so severely. Had a lot of potential, but that show really went around in circles for 90% of the time...

Capedwonder.com says that the full video of the panel will be up there- cool! In the meantime, he has this and a couple of other clips on his site as a preview: www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2n3iwDnZ2IOne clip there has/had Donner speaking directly to Wondercon folks- though I can't help but wonder if one reason he didn't show up was because Ilya Salkind was going to be in attendance, too. Actually--- while it's cool that so many of the cast is there- it might have been more interesting if ONLY Ilya Salkind (or Spengler if he's willing to be open about the goings on) showed at a convention, so that there could be probably a freer talk off the record about his version of everything that went on from a producer's pov. With everyone there- the good/bad is everyone being reasonably diplomatic there. Unless, of course, we didn't see the clip of Margot punching out Ilya and calling him a deplorable human being decades later.
