1. THE ENDING--
Of course. They've openly said that they wouldn't have re-used time reversal.
In one interview, Reeve said he suggested a kiss (that presumably was integrated into the script if it was his idea) -
Mank said that he was adamant that 'Clark should never kiss Lois'--- so this is questionable just what the heck they would have done.
2. JOR-EL/CLARK's FINAL DISCUSSION-- (REPOWERING)
Donner himself said that he wasn't happy with what was there and would have brought Brando back....
Though knowing how difficult Brando was at the time in general, even if Donner came back, it's hard to picture WB being able to make Brando happy without
paying a fortune-
3. LOIS's CLOSEUPS for the DEPOWERING scene
There are scraps that are Margot Kidder and not- and we even see still photos of her in the 'S' shirt.
4. THE SETUP BEFORE THE VILLAINS BREAK THROUGH THE ROOF
In the script, the army sets all kinds of traps and eyes the front door, presuming the villains will try to break into the front- THEN the suprise is them coming from the roof.
I was hoping to see this in the RDC, but I assume it was never shot & too expensive to reshoot properly.
5. UNSHOT SCENES: HONEYMOON HAVEN
The screen test was one that we at least get an idea of what he was going to do- but the one that has Lois and Clark go into the hotel is a great scene that sadly
wasn't shot that was even better: In Mank's script, Lois throws herself at a very innocent and annoying Clark (rather than the Lester version where Lois is annoying and complaining)
pushing Clark to give her a first kiss. It reads great and far far more charming than the Lester rewrite.
6. UNSHOT SCENE: WASHINGTON MONUMENT SPEECH/VILLAINS DESTROY WORLD
The Mount Rushmore stuff is a big mystery.... stuff was shot by Donner but not included in the RDC. But the bit where Zod lands on the top of the monument and gives the speech
to the world sounds and feels epic. Pity this wasn't there, too.
7. UNSHOT SCENE: VILLAINS LAND AND CONFRONT THE SHERIFF
Mank/Donner's version is short but violent in the way that the moon attack was. It condenses a lot of exposition that was spread out over the comical Lester Houston scenes.
8. THE TRANSITION/SETUP FROM THE DINER TO THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE
The RDC looks incredibly awkward- no doubt because of missing footage and bad Thau cuts.... but Donner's choice to choose every take go 'faster faster faster' was not consistent with STM, and so I think there might be multiple culprits here.
Clark climbs then RUNS in to talk to his dad. Additional footage could have made this work better- but it just looks odd as Reeve rambles through his speech fast, and makes the quieter more solemn Lester shot version seem better.
But- Donner must have had more in mind. The pacing of STM is just too smooth and perfect for this to be incompetence on Donner's part.
9. UNSHOT SCENE: HOME MOVIES and SUPES/LOIS 'first' kiss
Fan cuts have tried to restore this back as close as possible to Mank's script- but there is a romantic component of Supes and Lois' first kiss (the one in the alternate timeline in STM doesn't count).
10. WHOLE SEQUENCE: METRO BATTLE and HOW ARE LEX & DP STAFF SEE IT???
The whole section is extremely different and played differently in Mank's script. Also, the DP staff don't SEE what happens (as it's too far), but HEAR the 'whacks' back and forth and the city in flames in the distance.
I know there's more....
