That's cause Ike Perlmutter is a tight fisted miser. You hear stories of some of those early marvel studios meetings serving water and crackers. Their offices were in a old corner of the larger marvel offices with not nearly enough space. After their bankruptcy it made since but he was still being cheap even when they were doing. Well. It's why so many of the actors were low balled on contracts and why Feige wanted The studio out from under Perlmutter's control. It helped the budgets early on and I give him credit for that but Feige knew for the expanding MCU they had to loosen the purse strings a little and spend money in the places it was absolutely necessary. As for why Wright and Marvel split I think what we've heard is pretty much the truth. It was more complex than just Falcon. That could have been worked out. He had things he wanted to do with the movie that conflicted with where Marvel wanted to go. Remember when Wright first signed on to develop Antman there WAS no MCU. Iron Man was years away from being released. He developed that film for a long time and Marvels situation and their plans simply evolved to a point where fitting in what Wright wanted to do wasn't going to work for them. For a long time there were rumors that Pym was going to be the villian and there are hints of that left in the movie with a side effect of unregulated use of Pym particles being madness. I think it was stuff like that plus he probably wanted it to be more wild and bizzare and marvel wanted something more mainstream. If the split was amicable, would be nice if Marvel put out the original script one day under Wright.

Wright should work with Marvel to make it a comic. We've seen that done before with mixed results (Frank Millers Robocop). Or even better work with Marvel to make it a DTV animated movie. Both DC and marvel have used dropped plot ideas from the films in animated movies.
I also recently read somewhere that Wright wanted his film to be much more of a heist film that just happened to have superheroes instead of superhero film about a heist.

Maybe the next Superman director should NOT have prior experience in the genre?
Singer knew X-men... so he made Superman emo... Nolan/Goyer knew Batman so he made Superman dark...
Maybe the next directer ought to go in to the superhero thing fresh???

I didn't mind Superman sad, but he really should have shown his ability to kickarse as well--- such a pity that he nixed a superhero/supervillain battle in the middle of the movie. Goyer said in an interview he was the wrong guy to write Superman years before MOS. He should have stuck to that and stayed away imo.

I still believe one day, many many years from now, Superman WILL return to the screen gloriously. It will come out of nowhere from a new director without a history of comic book films.

What if the next great STM comes right after we all die? ? In all seriousness, I doubt that DC would go back to rebooting an origin for Supes for a long, long time... even if superhero films continue to be made at DC. Reason being- there's too much other material that I think DC would want to pursue and tryout first. (Unless, of course, the next set of films DC puts out all crashes and burns)

We won't see a slate wide full on reboot for years maybe even decades and even then CAMS right. We won't see origins because WB has too much other sh!t they want to mine from the comics and cartoons and video games. BVS tried to set up or mine Injustice, New Gods, Crisis, and all kinds of other stuff all in one movie that was already a mishmash of death of superman and dark knight returns. if MOS 2 fails then it'll be even longer before we see solo superman films. They're just doing this one to save face and keep up the appearance of confidence in the superman character. If they had their way I bet we wouldn't even see a MOS 2. If Justice League underperforms even those plans might change.
