I saw Kong Skull island over the weekend and really enjoyed it. It's use of such an impressive cast was underwhelming but I found it more entertaining than Jacksons '05 Kong, Godzilla '14, or Godzilla '98.
The best part is their planned slow rollout of their monster shared universe. So far the MonsterVerse is so so but promising. The thing that I really liked is they are doing a Kong movie to reestsblesh him and a Godzilla sequel to flesh out the Godzilla mythology and story too.
Isn't this what WB should have done before BVS? MOS 2 to give us a better idea of who this Superman is and get more experience under his belt and a Batman movie to establish who this new Dark Knight is after the Nolan trilogy?
I just feel like Legendary avoided some of WB's biggest mistakes which is really impressive since their first and second films have come so close after the first two DCEU films. The monster verse has its own flaws but it just seems like they have a better game plan. I wish Kong:SI had some of the Jackson films dramatic and character building but the new film is far better paced and more exciting.
Now if they can just get the Pacific Rim film series into the mix I'd be really excited. Crossing it over with Kong and the big G would be just the franchise viagra those films need.

Not much of a monster fan, but I'm mildly curious to see how it all plays out...
