and here are the thoughts of Sarah Douglas and Valerie Perrine regarding Man Of Steel:
(apologies if this has been posted before)
Sarah Douglas:
I have to be honest in that I enjoyed the 1st half and I did not particularly enjoy the 2nd half. I felt like I was in a video game and it was all wham wham wham and it was all a bit too much and I really love Henry- I thought he was the hottest thing since sliced bread -thank you very much - however Christopher Reeve is still my Superman
Valerie Perrine:
I hated it!! (audience laughter) I hated everything about it-1st of all I fell asleep-and then all I saw was SFX and smashing into buildings-there was no story going on -there was no sympathy between characters-there was no character build up-it was just SFX and slam bam thank you mam.
Sarah Douglas: I have to say I really miss the humor- this new movie -I know the kids love it and a lot of people enjoyed but it is a different generation

Forgive me if I am wrong, but did this women not through Chris Reeve under the bus after he died? Pretty sure she did,I read this post from these 2 women and I see some old dames trying to live off some old fame and glory they once had

Personally for me--it is not a question of whether the movie is fast or slow or video gamey or realistic--it is a question of ,for want of a better word-- "a vibe".
IMHO Zack Snyder films just have a flat feeling to them--as if there is no charisma. Lawrence Of Arabia and 2001 Space Odyssey are very slow moving films but they have a palpable sense of cinematic charisma that seeps into every frame.
So when that soldier in Man Of Steel says "they have got Superman in tow--the alien sir--that is what they are calling him--Superman".....it is said with so little emotion that the whole dialogue just falls "flat"!
I watched STM back to back with SII in 1981 and the audience atmosphere was electric.
I watched MOS in 2013 and the audience was just in a soporific trance.
To me, there are specific great things that MOS had that I give Snyder credit for in MOS, and other specific things that ruin much of the film for me. Most of it has to do with the awkwardness of the performances in the scenes- but this is some of the same awkwardness I noticed in some of the Thau-edited RDC scenes- so, that's why I've always wondered if I would be able to enjoy a good fan edit of MOS.... and Watchmen. To busy on there phones

If you want to see a good battle of good vs evil watch the old Star trek episode where Kirk gets "doubled" up from the transporter.........they did it better on a heck of a smaller budget. Is that a Shatner Only Scene? I Wanna Live...I Wanna Live

crap + crap = crap this has to be one of the worst moments in any superman movie....lets have a great grand fight in a.............JUNKYARD? I seen this in the theaters in 1983....and that was my thought then and still is my thought now..... Salkin's got the movie that they wanted and Lester killed the franchise If you want to see a good battle of good vs evil watch the old Star trek episode where Kirk gets "doubled" up from the transporter.........they did it better on a heck of a smaller budget.

I removed the comment from the posts. It's probably best if we keep comments like that out of the public Superman section. "We do not have a swear word filter in place because we're all adults here. We don't mind f-bombs, but don't use cursing to attack each other. Try not to put anything too raunchy in the Superman section, as it is viewable by non-member guests. Curse words are fine as exclamations."Your House,Your rules My apologies Cheers

Look, I am no fan of Superman Returns, but there is ZERO justification for this kind of talk. What the heck does Singer's sexuality have to do with anything, other than being an egotistical cheap shot from smug, self-entitled fanboys? Criticize the man's work, yes, but his personal life is none of your darn business. Talk like this is why geekdom -- and the Superman fandom in particular -- has a deservedly poopty reputation. Did I go to far....probably... Seen and read things on this and other incarnations of this board over the years that I can shake my head at. Your telling me it's not okay to criticize a heterosexual? Or am I too old for this board? I will leave this subject alone now

Aside from Shannon's mocap suit, the set pictures were mostly blissfully free of neon green. Correct me if I am wrong, but that did not look like Shannon in that suit ...different actor, saw Shannon in his Zod get up. How do we know if its Zod at all in the Smallville wreckage

Its all Lesters/Neumans falt
It looks like old Donner footage....Driving through the Rockies. Take a good look at the car. It looks like the same car Lex wrecked in the 1st Superman so he could do his "crazey rocket distarction thing"

Hard to get past the accent.... needs to bulk up big time, those shoulders don't look like they will hold the cape up.
Curious though,If Routh never got returns, would he landed MOS.

Saw the sucker punch trailer
Nice Eye Candy
This is probably the direction Warners wants to take with he franchise.....far away from the donnerverse eveyone is accustomed to.Especially after Singers more dramatic ,character driven Returns

This review is a weird (definitely all over the place) revision to the one that Ebert wrote when the movie FIRST came out. The one that came out (pity that they didn't archive it on the website) by Ebert when he first saw it was similar to a standing ovation. This one is far less complimentary than the original review & it's hard to figure out what he's interested in talking about here. *sigh* I remember the original... not sure what's up his booty here. Found this old review in google books on age 740 if it does not open up correctley tinyurl.com/2dqoajy

It gets pretty pathetic sometimes waiting for these movies to get made.
After 35 years or so you would think there is someone other than Richard Donner who is suitable to make these movies.
Big movies call for a bigger director,Zach Snyder has yet to prove he can take it to the next level, before he tackles this picture
Brandon Routh was the only highlight in the last movie, give the guy a screen test and a read (if the script is any good)
Hollywood has seem to forgotten that a good script is your foundation of the movie
Sort of like the old saying a Chef is only good as his stock

Routh should be given an interview and a screen test based on the new material.
Rouths Superman was handcuffed with no chemistry or screen-time with Lois Lane, and possibly Routh was also handcuffed by the director. I would have liked to of seen a new interpretation of Clark Kent also
