I like this one. I think the costume looks a little more accurate than the hot toys figure and I like the proportions. Reeves likeness is a hard one to get just right. Most high end figures come close but depending on lighting or makeup or his weight at the time he could look different from scene to scene.

I saw that--- still makes me wonder if a zillionaire one day could buy up the rights to SII and fix it up to finish up SII by using this tech... and then give it to us. You might not even need a rich fan. It looks like the studios might be starting to use deepfake tech or at least something similar. I’m wondering if a certain cameo in The Mandalorian was achieved using the process and I could swear it looked like it was used in the Snyder Cut of JL. Even if it becomes illegal for fans to use this stuff to do things with films and celeb likenesses I could see the studios developing their own version.

It’s a mixed bag at best. Sometimes they can deliver a very interesting episode (I thought the Mr Zasz episode was the best of the series) but most the time I think it suffers from the worst problems many CW shows suffer from. The show has never been up to the level of the first two seasons of Arrow, Flash, or Superman & Lois so far but even the mediocre episodes can offer something interesting. I think Rachel Skarsten has been a standout as Alice/Beth Kane.
It’s just hard to pull off a Batman show with no Batman. None of them have ever really worked wether it was Birds of Prey or Gotham. I think season 2 in particular is struggling with is creative and tonal identity because of all behind the scenes stuff with Rose leaving. It’s not really fair to judge the show too harshly based on having that monkey wrench thrown at them. It’s similar to Arrow season 3 and 4 going off the rails when WB forced them to scrap all their plans for the Suicide Squad and change everything.

Pretty interesting since they said they wouldn’t recast Kate but now they are. Maybe they couldn’t negotiate anything with Rose to come back despite Ross saying she was willing. A new actress does make things more flexible and give them more freedom. Rose was never going to give them as much of a commitment. What’s even funnier is Day put her hand up when people were lobbying to be the new Batwoman. She a bit too young but does look more believable as the twin sister to Rachel Skarsten who plays Alice/Beth

Are there any episodes without kryptonite in them? Did you see the episode with Amy Adams as the fat girl who is turned into a fat sucking monster because of Kryptonite? I bet they’d all like to forget that one.

Yeah it’s bizarre. I didn’t even know there was a vampire episode. I remember the witch and zombie episodes. Terrible. It’s a sign the show was struggling for ideas with filler episodes like that to fill out 22 episode seasons.
But as for Mack if people think Spacey makes watching Superman Returns awkward then her being on Smallville has to be just as awkward. She’s facing some serious prison time. I’m guessing the only reason she hasn’t been sentenced yet is covid. If you look into NXIVM it’s really f’ed up. She even tried to lure in other female actresses including some of her costars. Very predatory stuff.
One thing did like about Smallville was bringing in Carrie Fisher as Pauline Kahn. Sounds like the name was inspired by Jenette Kahn and Paul Levitz too.

Snyder’s films are arguably more cgi heavy than even most of the marvel films. Superman’s cape is cg half the time. So much more work has to be done to get the looks he wants. He wants to control every minute detail visually. It’s very time consuming. All the green screen work probably doesn’t help either. When you look at the budgets for his DC films vs most of the Marvel films it’s astonishing. MOS cost more than The Avengers. BvS Cost even more than that. I’ve never thought he was the most economical filmmaker. When you look at all the extra unneeded stuff he shoots that doesn’t even need to be in his films that’s more money down the tubes. If he had more focus everything in his films would be better but it’s like Snyder has ADD.

I agree. Even if Whedon had been allowed to step in before filming it would have been tough. Doing a 180 after BVS underperformed would have been hard for anyone to pull off. Really someone like Whedon needed to be there from the beginning. From before MOS.
I was just thinking of how Snyder was a studio darling at WB after 300. He can’t really say the studio did him wrong early on. For the most part he got to make the films he wanted to make with Watchmen and MOS but neither fully delivered on their potential.

The first season is basically bought for me. Just to get that pilot and see what behind the scenes extras they have. Got most of the other shows so I can’t break up the franchise just yet.

I binged all of Season 2. Now in Season 3. I think that even without the Superman aspect, it's a great show. Like a soap opera / teen high school drama. I did buy all ten seasons when it was on sale.... but never watched all of them as I wanted to. It'll be hard to rewatch them without thinking in the back of my head the crazy REAL-LIFE soap opera with some of actors playing the supporting characters--- so sad! Yeah who woulda thought adorable little Chloe Sullivan would be in a cult branding broads with a symbol partially made up of her initials. Would that make the wall of weird? Got to be awkward at those conventions when almost everyone else from the cast is there except her.

Justice League theatrical cut is sort of like Aquaman imo. It’s ok as a big cartoon popcorn movie but pretty cheesy. Some of the big issues are the cgi and the Whedon and Snyder material not meshing but it’s no worse than Aquaman and probably better than stuff like Green Lantern.
Watchmen needs a great director and writer..:.which Snyder is not. Giving him Watchmen was like letting Michael Bay make a film based on Hamlet. Terry Gilliams Watchmen film would have been far less faithful but far more interesting.

I honestly can’t get over how bad some of the cgi is. It shows the absurd amounts of money Snyder needed to make his films look good. I’m sure covid restrictions didn’t make it easy but still.

I thought Smallville stunk. Especially the early and later seasons. The waste of time cave junk and Kryptofreak stuff really bogged down those early seasons. A lot of it really hasn’t aged well. I think Superman & Lois handles the high school melodrama better than Smallville ever did as well.

Watchmen might be a better comparison. Another movie that had multiple edits. I’d love to see some fan editor take everything from Snyder and Whedons cuts of JL and try to craft a better film in editing. It’ll never be great but I think something better is in there. It’s like Superman II all over again except both versions of II are probably better than both versions of Justice League.

Well, two friends saw it the other day- both of whom rarely agree on anything and say: #1: Yes, it is better. #2: It's not terrible. #3: Good watch. #4: Basically the same story, though. I'm glad to hear that. I still don't trust Snyder's aesthetics enough to prefer him to be back in charge of DC material... but I'm glad if it's a good watch. When it gets to blu ray I'll check it out... It’s been pretty mixed to positive overall. Most people think it’s better or at least more consistent but some people still are not only not impressed but find it way too long and boring. I haven’t sat down and watched it all yet but I’ve seen bits and pieces. I think of what I’ve seen it’s got the same problems as his last few movies. Overly indulgent and violent simply for the sake of it. I honestly think Whedon handled the Wonder Woman/terrorist sequence better. Snyder’s version was full of violence with no real moral weight or reflection on what was being done. I’ve got no problem with bad guys being killed but when it’s handled like a video game you’ve lost me. It’s obvious Snyder is only interested in doing Injustice or The Justice Lords. It’s all Grimdark dudebro action. The slow motion and speed ramping is also obscenely overdone in my opinion. Snyder also clearly repurposed footage of actors from other movies (especially of Superman) for certain scenes like the nightmare future sequences. It shows that all that wasn’t in his original cut of footage and was part of the brief round of reshoots he did recently. Some of the cgi and green screen work is surprisingly subpar. It shows that they needed a lot more time and money to get it looking right. Darkseid looks ridiculous at times. Letos Joker somehow comes off as worse to me than he did in Suicide Squad.

That's a great piece of art for the Nic Cage Superman--- but I kind of scratch my head that a fan would devote that much time to create a piece of art for a movie nobody was crazy about to come out! But, I do admire and respect the quality of the art...! Well Jon Schnepp devoted even more time and money to a documentary about the same movie that no one was crazy about. They were fascinated by the concept and what if.

Unless Feige is a happy helping them I expect the Spiderverse or venomverse to blow up in their faces.

Of course it is. It’s a four hour slog where Snyder gets to indulge in his worst creative instincts and roll around in pure excess. The guy has always needed a filter or some limitations and with this he has absolutely none. It’s sitting pretty good on rotten tomatoes right now but I expect that to change.

Brando is fine in Superman. Problem is we’ve all seen all his others work and we know he could do much better. His costars also got to witness how he worked by that point. The cue cards, the earpiece, showing up on sets overweight, trying to con his way into somehow doing even less. He’d always been pretty selfish, overconfident, and vindictive but Reeve was right by the later half of his career he was coasting on his beloved status. His “fine” is still better than most actors “great” though. It’s why he still makes the scenes he’s in light up. And like you said Donner and co knew how to use him and what the got from him. Baird deserved all the praise he got for his editing that’s for sure. John Williams work can elevate anything....even Brando’s acting. Strangely, I would have thought Gregory Peck would have been much better as Jor-el.... but Donner mentioned that PECK was a bit of an a-hole while directing "The Omen"- so sad... Well I think Peck was still dealing with his grief over his sons death during the making of the Omen. I know Donner said they had some disagreements but not that they went at it through the entire shoot the way he has with other actors.
