He thought he would be the "solo star" of Superman 3!😄 You will tell me who else!

I think Cavill’s only really good performance as Superman was probably the theatrical Justice League. Tyler Holchein plays a down to earth version kinda like Dean Cain. I like Holchein better than Cavill even Cavill is clearly has a better “look”.

Henry Cavill performances are the same all over the movie world. They stink.

I liked him in the Supegirl appearances so far. Not epic in stature but seems more natural in the role and more emotional content than Henry Cavill.

atp Nice to know you are(or were!!-lol) fond of the original "live"(well-excluding the Japanese one!) Spiderman too! I first saw Sound Of Music in 84' on TV(loved it!). By that point a couple of years had gone by since seeing Spidey in the cinema- so never made the connection with Hammond's role in both films. Having said that , the Spidey series/show(including the 3 episodes that ran theatrically here in europe only) ran just once on UK TV---in late 1981. Watched that avidly too--but without a VCR in 1981-it too became a thing of memory for the best part of 10 years. The 3 Hammond Spidey theatricals were rebroadcast on TV here in the UK, in late 1989. I was 16 by then and now had a VCR--taped the sucker and remember it being not quite as good as I had recalled it from 1981--lol! -but that's when I realised Hammond was the main man from The Sound Of M. Life before the internet--lol! Sorry--did not want to derail the thread. Although we credit Reeve with accentuating the idea of taking the material seriously with regards to comic book adaptations to the big screen, both Hammond and Bixbie had already done that on TV for Spidey and Hulk respectively, back in 1977/78. For Spidey--the great Fred Waugh doubled for Hammond when it came to the show's extravagant stunts. The clip below of Spidey walking on the ledge of The Empire State still takes my breath away----and as i said in other threads--I will still take that over the CG drivel we get today(here's looking at you Spider Man No Way Home!). My God! ATP loves 70s Spider-Man like I do? Why didn’t I….

Is it like the cinematographer in STM, panning away to the moon? Don’t focus on the moon or will miss Reeve’s heavenly glory.

1) Kryptonians taking over people's bodies 2) Kryptonians trying "save their people" and bring back Krypton 3) Aerial battles with buildings being destroyed 4) Red eyes and dramatic heat vision It's all getting boring, lazy and overused The main problem isn’t that. The main problem is that we need emotional content.

Another crap concept that is overused and boring now is "alternate Earths" and multiverses. F uck that already. There is ONE Earth and ONE Superman. Man, all that comes right out of a comic book.

I can remember watching that scene as a little kid and thinking, “Huh? Why is he putting kryptonite on the ship?” and asking my dad for clarification.

I really enjoyed Arrow’s Prometheus storyline from season 4. I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2, but season 3 was a speed bump. Season 4 was so good. The Flash has been consistently good to awesome for 4 seasons. I’m really enjoying Legends of Tomorrow as a Guardians of Galaxy type. Between being forced to drop the Suicide Squad story because of the SS movie and the Felicity romance Arrow went off the rails in The second half of season 3 and all of season 4. I thought season 5 was a rebound for them. After that it was up and down. I enjoyed seasons 7 and 8 though. Flash’s best seasons were one and two. But they ran into the speedster villain problem. It was a formula that was kind of overused. But then they had to figure out how to come up with strong non speedster villains for each season and that’s been hit and miss. I thought Legends began to find its voice after season 1 ended. Some characters just didn’t work and as they rotated people in and out of the cast and settled on who they needed most or who worked together best of got better. The shift to more comedy was the smart play. I actually really enjoyed Legends season 1, but oooof, I’m so glad they got rid of the Hawkman and Hawkgirl. They were pretty awful. But I loved the rest of the cast, especially Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.

What do you guys think of David Harewood as Manhunter? I have a soft spot for the Phil Morris version from Smallville but I like Harewood. Mechad Brooks is a great Jimmy but it was weird to see Jimmy taller and more muscular than Tyler Holchein. He’s a different Jimmy than the wimpier one I’ve watched and read for a lifetime but I like Brooks. I like him a lot. He’s really carried off the role well. Maybe my favorite take on the character in live action but I think all the different versions have been at least good as far as the acting. Ideally he gets to keep on playing the role even after Supergirl ends. Maybe occasional appearances on Superman & Lois. You referring to Jimmy or MM?

I want to see MOS again. Haven’t seen it since the theaters and want to enjoy it. I recently saw the theatrical Justice League and enjoyed Cavill in the role a little more the third go around.

I understand what you mean. At the same time, I really like Routh as Ray Palmer. Prior to my last viewing of SR, I felt he was a better Atom than Superman, but he was a good Superman too.
SR had a lot of expectations on it being the first Superman motion picture since Reeve and it was obvious they were continuing the Donnerverse.
I think time has been kinder to it. Particularly since we’ve had a few Superman interpretations since then.
Routh is kinda like the George Lazenby of Superman actors. He kinda channeled the original while also displaying more vulnerability, which is what Lazenby did. And neither actor got a chance to really grow into the role.

Really? I loved Silva! Probably my favorite villain! Lol When did you last see LTK? The more I watch it, the more I am in awe of Robert Davi as Sanchez. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with LTK. As a teenager, I always critiqued it to death. It was the first Bond I saw in theaters and there were things I loved about it but things I didn’t like. Sánchez was a good villain, but I always also saw him as the typical 80s drug lord I saw a thousand times earlier in the decade, including Miami Vice.
