I watched the S4 DVD (with commentary and for the first time) and I noticed something cool. When Warfield is comming down the escalator at the end there is the newspaper clipping on the wall that says "Caped Wonder stuns city" and also " Superman stops chemical fire" (from Superman 3). I can't believe I discovered this... THAT IS CONTINUITY DONE RIGHT!!! Btw, I noticed the obvious wires and the black curtains on the moon scene... man that scene is so laughable especially with the extra clarity!

Someone pointed that out several months ago, but it's a good find, and not easy to see at first. Aside from the actors, it's just about the only thing linking S4 to the superior Salkind pictures.
Speaking of the commentary, listen to Rosenthal when the Sun rises on the Moon, just as Nuclear Man wakes up in the elevator car. He says that's an error as the Sun doesn't rise on the Moon. Of all the things WRONG with the movie, he points out something that was actually done CORRECTLY. Obviously Rosenthal has never heard of the phases of the moon. It's the Earth that never rises on the Moon, not the Sun.

Yeah obviously when there is a lunar eclipse the "dark" side of the moon is lit up; we just don't SEE that part of the moon from Earth ever! He also said that the movie was so incoherent that the audience didn't know why NuclearMan could be trapped in the elevator without sunlight.... obviously that plot point WAS left in. I think Rosenthal was trying to impress the listeners with his "intelligence" and throw out a bunch of random "facts" because he wanted us to think he was smart because he was so embarrassed to be a part of SIV... sorry Rosenthal... you too are to blame! Well, nothing was worse than Donner's SII commentary when he actually asks Mankewitcz if it was his idea to re-do SII. Mank says..."uh... no it wasn't Dick" and Donner says "Oh Yeah! It was this guy named Michael Thau!!" No wonder the Donner cut sucked! But I digress, SIV has a bunch of layers that we can peel back to reveal an ocean of threatrical depth! (The SIV editor holds up a impotent and shriveled 89 minute strip of film and says... uhh Rothenthal... this aint gonna cover it!) Too true, the narrative was a bit buck naked in areas with it's gapping holes exposed for the world to see... but there IS the superior Quest for Coherence Cut wherin I'm sure the true genious of this film will be revealed!

No I didn't see it but I heard about your cut... you used all the deleted scenes then used comic strips to fill in the blanks right? Is it really a better film?... how do you work around all the unfinished effects like when Supes takes Jeremy above the world?

He simply slaps them in, as they are. ;D Nah truthfully, to fix those effects you'd need a lot of time on your hands and patience because there is no way they are going to be a 5 minute job.

That extended speech with Reeve at the end of SIV was actually good and they used the Father's goodbye music from STM!

Well, when the best project you're associated with rejected your material, being a movie fan might be a bit disheartening.

Very interesting indeed! It's great to know that there is some linking, even though the likes Margot Kidder wouldn't want to hear of it! ;D. Supergirl asked Jimmy to never speak of her appearance at the end of that film, so that explains why he never told, even though you'd think he would have.
