I'm really excited about this.... I know Superman IV has the potential to be so much more. All it needs is a little work by a skilled editor to bring out it's genious... bravo bizzaroworld, can't wait to see this!

I think most of the edits are pretty seamless. I used your cut for about half, and the Superman IV DVD for about half. After watching my DVD I saw one or two things I wanted to change, so I just rendered a new file. I'm going for fan-edit of the year so I want to make sure everything is right.

Reeve probably didn't have final cut approval....hard to get in Hollywood, from what I understand. Sidney Furie might not have had that, either.
Why didn't Furie remove his name from the cut? Who knows... but according to the Mike Matessino interview, SIV ruined Furie's career in Hollywood permanently, he might have been better off removing his name-
Still, I remember in a Starlog interview w/Marc McClure on the set of SIV, where McClure asked Reeve about SV, but that Reeve was tentative and just said, "We'll see how this one goes first"- and Reeve/Furie apparently KNEW* that either they had to try their best, even with a budget that blew, once they got to that point in production.
((*There's also a Reeve biography book that echoes this thought from other sources, not to mention the DVD collection documentaries, but I forget the name of that bio. Sorry... I'm sloppy at naming references...)) ;(

It's cool that youtube will still let you do that. I recently tried to put up more sample composite work to share, but then youtube sent me a notice saying that their software could recognize the footage, and sent me a warning- whereas previously it wasn't a problem. Hnh. On the flip side, admire your ambition for trying to make SIV as good as it can be. ((Though...is anyone going to tackle fixing SIII???)

Editing won't save Superman IV and make it better!..Jimbo's cut was the best you can do with the footage that is available and without spending months cleaning up the footage..
My trailer makes Superman IV look good!..

My trailer makes Superman IV look good!.. I disagree. I just watched my cut and I think Superman IV is now a good film, at least twice as good as the theatrical or complete cut. No special effects cleanup required.

I just wanted to let everybody know that I watched my cut and I am 100% satisfied with the cut.
I had to make a few menu changes (increase text size, edit the "About" Section) but other than that I'm done and it's ready to go.
I just need two things ASAP:
1. Lex Luthor Theme from Superman IV - preferably the score for the scene where Superman talks to Lex in Metropolis Tower, before being introduced to Nuclear Man.
2. The UN Speech music - my about page has some information about Superman IV and my cut of the film. For this menu page I currently have a clip of Superman speaking to the UN from the movie. I might keep that clip or just use the "score" version, sine my other menu pages feature music from the film.
I promise Subzero he would get his copy first, since he's the designer of the cover, but after that, I'm not sure how these fan releases are usually handled.
1. I could send out discs to anyone who wants one and
2. I would start a download or file share but my ISP limits me to 50 gigs a month, so if someone else could do it, that would be so much better. If you can do it, let me know and I'll send you the discs as well.
I'm not sure how file share works.... that's an option. Do I just upload the two files (rar'd dvd) once and then anyone is free to download without me going over my limit?
Thanks all.

I think you've spent so much time on this movie, you've come to accept the crappiness of the whole thing. After a while, I got desensitized to the stupidity of most of it. No editing can change the fact that it's horrible. All the special effects are terrible, and you can't edit all those out. Everything Nuclear Man utters (both of them) is stupid, and you can't cut that out. I'm sure your cut is just fine, but the movie itself, nah.

The bad thing about SIV is it COULD HAVE been a decent film. But NM1 was just way too campy, it wouldn't have worked, period. You already had Cryer for comedic relief, why add a Frankenuke Superman in the mix? It was a film that was poorly executed from the get go. Reeve had his heart in the right place, though. Greed just won out in the end.

Nah, I'd say laziness won out at the end.

You could be right, I could be looking at this film through rose colored glasses. I just had a lot of fun and frustration with this film. I like to put myself in the editor's shoes... trying to save the film and produce something that people enjoy, is true to the Superman franchise, and focuses on the material's strengths instead of weaknesses. I think it could/should have been done differently, and I show how. That being said, I'm 100% satisfied. This film is now in the "good" category, probably better than Superman 3, which I liked as well. We'll have to see the response. Some may hate it. Who knows.

So with the edits, about how long is this movie? Couldn't be longer than 1:50, right?
Are you using my Metro Club scene, or are you taking a different approach?

It's shorter than your 1:57 cut.

I might premiere the film on Stickam or Justin.tv tonight by streaming it live to anyone who wants to watch. I had trouble with Stickam before, with my Pinnacle 710 device I could never get sound to work.

It's shorter than your 1:57 cut. Why the attitude? I didn't mean to imply a bad attitude, I just meant to say it's shorter than your 1:57 cut, which was GREAT. I just meant to stay quiet about the length of my cut, to not ruin any surprise. I apologize if it came off the wrong way.

And thanks to Jimbo, who encoded some of the music in a real strange way so I had to jump back and forth between the official DVD release and his 1:57 cut, adding hours upon hours to my editing process. j/k

I can't make it too easy for you, now can I? Which scenes in particular had the strange music encoding? And I see you used the red Warner Bros. logo from my cut. That's courtesy of MrM and Magnum Force.

At the end of the Nuclear Man fight in New York, the sound gets garbled before he kicks Superman away.
During the Lex Dealing Arms scene, the sound/music is garbled again - I had to use the workprint cut
When Nuclear Man destroys Metropolis, the sound is garbled.
In Power Director, it told me that the sound in those clips were encoded in dolby professional and the program did not have the permissions to encode it. In the other programs, the sound was simply silent or the sound did not match the picture - during the NY fight (Liberty) the sound from when Lacy is made publisher is playing.
All of this when editing your version with video/sound combined and even when demuxing it. but when I watched it on my PC or DVD player, it was fine. Go figure.
