I don't think it's a good idea to use "Final Cut" as the titles of your fan cuts. It implies that your cuts are the be-all, end-all for these movies, discounting all the other cuts out there (other examples being Ridley Scott's Blade Runner - Final Cut or Oliver Stone's Alexander - Final Cut).

Let's not forget circumcisions. Unless you're John Wayne Bobbitt.

bizarroworld.... please do a fan cut that uses the Lester film, but injects Brando, the Donner battle scenes and all the RIC Donner stuff. And please use Thornes score wherever possible. Trust me, this will be the best SII edit!!! If you do this and distribute it to the members here, then YOU will have been responsible for not only the best cut of SIV, but also the best cut of SII!

The word best is so subjective, don't you think?
I mean, a buddy and I almost got into fisticuffs because he said Neil Peart was a better drummer than John Bonham.

There are many cuts that do just that. In fact, most, if not all, do that. Otherwise, what's the point of making a fan cut? Methinks your enthusiasm is a put-on.

There is no 'best' cut of SII. Only what’s in your mind. That's the problem with fan edits, everyone can edit a film thus no ones choices will ever satisfy everyone. bizarroworld will make a cut for himself and hopefully other people will enjoy it, but it will only ever be his preferred cut. Just like my cut works for me and Mav's cut works for him etc...

Well, I do think my cuts are the best. But I would never call it something like The Best Cut. I like "The Final Cut". It's kind of my tagline, it's just something I think sounds good and I can roll with it. No disrespect to anyone elses cuts of any film.

Adam, you read my mind about the Superman II cut. But I have some big surprises in store for this cut. Donner definitely shot the very best footage, but Lester did a fine job by not turning it into a complete disaster, which it could have been. I'm going to use a lot of Lester's scenes, especially in the middle of the movie, and Ken Thorne's score for as many scenes as possible, especially saving the boy in Niagara and the end battle in the fortress.

Finally people respond but nobody tried to spot the cuts. Maybe I've just watched these films way too much and can notice all the small cuts.

Some nice cuts- primarily the Lois reactions, it hadn't occured to me to do that, it's the first time I've seen someone cut into the scene like that...interesting. The usual tendency is to leave it intact, to preserve as much Reeve performance as possible, but that was a nice touch.
It's unlikely anyone will come out with a cut that everyone will agree upon as the ultimate--- but it's interesting to see what the general patterns are in what choices are made to cut out/leave in.
When EVERYONE agrees on something, you know that Thau really blew it. (i.e. the high pitched "I'm not a coward zod"; and the silence following Reeve's dedication are just two that come to mind as all-around choices).
At this point, with WB's lack of interest, at this point, I don't care who recuts it, whether it's Thau or Selutron or whoever. I just want something officially done that is a better cut than what we got from WB, imo.

The problem with Superman II is that it's hard to use blank bullets because it's just a test shot, but if you want to use Donner's opening, it's hard to use jumping in the water as well.

Me either. I just finished up my intro to Superman II and will post it shortly.
I am also uploading my Superman IV: The Final Cut to Megaupload at the same time.

Adam - sounds good, but you haven't seen my Superman IV cut yet. I love it, but you never know what others will think. It may not be a hit at all. I'm working on your Superman II now while Superman IV uploads... it'll be several hours before it's finally available and fans can judge for themselves.

That's a pretty good opening. I think there should be some more smoothness in the music during the edits. Great job using the superior Lester footage of the villains escaping. "FREEEEEEEEE" just seems so silly now.

Lester's dark black looks so much better to me.

His facial expression is just so goofy. Less is more, less is more.
You have the 8-disc soundtrack, right? That should make this a lot easier.

No, the order I had of the 8 disc soundtrack from Ebay was cancelled. I have to order it again.
I'm about half way through the film now, and boy does it get messy around then. I absolutely hate when the villains conquer the small town. It's so cheesy. I'm using Thau's material for that, at least things like the flamethrower and the tightened up battle. There's no way that boy or Boog is getting in my cut.

Hmm interesting choices, very similar to what I was going for when I was doing my edit. The only problem as Jimbo pointed out (and I also noticed on your youtube page concerning the music for SIV credits) is your music editing is a little abrupt and noticeable.
