okay so i've had both versions of superman II burned on my computer since forever, but just recently started to fool around with them. there are so many fan cuts available that i don't even think i want to do a full cut, maybe just edit some scenes here and there. i don't know exactly where i'm going with this yet but what fascinates me most about the 2 cuts is the showdown in the fortress. i much prefer the acting in lester's fortress showdown over donner's. much of the dialogue in donner's just comes off campy and the performances aren't that great. like i said i don't know where i'm really going with this, hence the very short clip. i'm just gonna keep fooling around with both versions and see what i can come up with.
so this is pretty much complete but it's still a work in progress. i wanted to keep as much donner footage as possible, simply because it looks better. i kept some lester shots in here and there because i preferred the angles over donner. also, i replaced the majority of donner's dialogue with lesters. lester's line readings are better than 95% of donner's.

One line that I really love from the theatrical cut is "Scruffy, a sentimental replica of a planet long since vanished. No sense of style at all."

manetoys is there anyway to colour correct Lester's footage to match Donner's? I think Ollie did something like this with his. I would certainly see if you can, because your edit works pretty well.
Also, I like those videos which tyler posted. I like the way Supes is using the fotress to trick Zod and co. Quite interesting.

Your right I did do a little bit of work to match the footage and for my new version the matching is even better. The footage in the FOS finale is particularly difficult though because it's just so different. A real sin on Paynter's part for ruining Unsworth's photography. I've got it pretty close though.
