Well, if you all must know, I am actually fixing Superman IV as I speak. I am inserting new FX and matte backgrounds and cleaning up the wires.

Superman saving a Jet in the most spectacular Superman stunt ever caught on film A.) Superman Returns was shot digitally, hence there was technically no "film" involved. B.) It wasn't really a "stunt," since the whole thing (other than some closeups of Routh) was rendered on a computer. I love that sequence, even though it wasn't shot on film. I'm not a fan of SR overall, but that was probably the most exciting superhero action sequence I've seen. I love the score, especially during the moment when Lois looks over and sees Superman zip by the window. Great stuff. I wish the big reveal in the stadium would've been a few beats longer, but that's a small complaint. I do have to agree that SR is very unoriginal. Harris and Dougherty are the John Logans of Superman films; their entire script was adapted from bits and pieces of other people's work. Even the airplane sequence, which is awesome, was lifted from Abrams' script, IIRC- that draft had Superman saving Air Force One and landing it in Fenway Park. The "Superman hovers in the air and listens for trouble" scene was also Abrams' idea. So right there, two of the most interesting scenes from the film were thought up by someone other than Singer/Harris/Dougherty, yet they're the only ones whose names appear in the credits. Brandon Routh was a great find, despite the issues I have with SR. I have no problem with WB bringing him back for The Man of Steel, or whatever they want to call it- in fact, it'd be a major selling point for me. *hugs Shiny real hard* downwithrouth said, "This is one of the... things I think Returns did right. The flying looked completely believable for perhaps the very first time in Superman's movie history. The sense of speed, the range of mid-air movement, the constant changes from close-up flying to extreme long distance...that's how Superman SHOULD fly."AGREED!

Watched that episode live, and as Obama said that, I go, "What the heck? What is this, Superman IV?" and then moments later the joke comes out.

That's the great thing about Stewart and Colbert, they are quite clearly nerds like us.
