I'm sure most (if not all) of us are agreed that the theatrical cut of Superman: The Movie had stellar editing. But which Superman film do you think was cut the worst?

II or IV.
I'm leaning toward IV because of stuff cut out and the plot making even less sense because of it.
But then again some of the same things happened to the theatrical cut of II. Cutting out things like Jor Els scenes and the lack of flow in some Donner to Lester scenes really hurt it.
Same thing with the Donner cut only the reverse of not enough Lester, and bad music, fx, and scene edits.

Superman IV by far!
Back in 1987 Warner Bros should have brought in an outside editor. Someone with a good reputation in fixing films in the editing. Someone with no emotional attachment to the material. Just trying to edit the best possible film from all shot footage.
Some of those repeated, redundant flying shots should have been cut. How does Superman get to point A from point B? HE FLIES! WE KNOW THAT.
Obviously with a better budget you would have had variations in flying angles and camera setups. But without that it would better to leave that to the audiences imagination in some cases than recycling the same stock image.
During the Nuclear Man case/fight around the world many of those "Superman flies toward camera" shots could have been cut. It would not have effected the continuity of the editing at all. If anything it would have livened the pace a bit.

While I'd like to say Superman II: RDC has the worst editing, the true crown has to go to Superman IV because of the haphazard deletions and rearrangements. So so so sloppy.
