It used Williams music. I simply cannot imagine a Superman film w/out Williams epic score. If the only way to get the music again is to do a SR sequel then so be it. Seriously I cannot tell you guys who pumped I was at the IMAX when the thunderous score of the opening credits was about to begin. I was happy to finally experience a Superman credit sequence on a giant screen. I can't remember if the credits were 3d though... it would made perfect sense... if the credits came at the audience. But I can't remember if the credits zoomed toward or away from the audience come to think of it.... Anyway.. quite an experience. I'll always have fond memories of SR opening night... I was a bit dissappointed when I left the theatre though sometimes it's hard to fully digest an epic film upon the initial view especially considering how amped you are but I definately felt something was amiss. All well... bring on SR2 or a reboot; whichever will be better and has the best talent behind it!

I have a lot of issues with SR, but the IMAX airplane rescue was one of the most exciting cinema experiences I've had. The HUGE screen, the great score, the insane velocity of the plane as it barreled downward, the standing ovation by the stadium crowd; great, great stuff. Almost goosebumpy.
Also, I love the ocean rescue. The yacht's sinking beneath the waves, there's no hope of escape, and suddenly two red boots appear and the Williams theme kicks in.
I also love Routh's performance during the scenes where he rescues Kitty from the runaway car. It was one of the few scenes that truly allowed Routh to be the charming, iconic, do-gooder Superman we all know from the Reeve films, and Routh really shined in it. I think it was that one scene that totally convinced me that Routh was the right guy for the job. He's befuddled by the woman's bizarre behavior, yet he still leaves with a smile and a warm farewell. That's Superman, in a nutsheck; he doesn't totally understand humanity and some of our craziness, but he still cares deeply for us.

I actually didn't care for the exchange with Kitty too much. When she says "you have people to save right!" and Supes is like "uhh...yes!" it just seemed like they were making fun of Supie's routine. I dunno.
I gotta agree with you about the boat rescue though... I loved that. When Supes asks Richard to hold on to Lois and Jason and flies them to safety... great stuff. Especially love the sad part where we see the them sinking right before Supes lands on the boat.

Definitely one of the best Superman moments in any medium.
For me, there are a number of things I absolutely loved in SR:
1. The music, and NOT just the Williams stuff 2. Routh 3. The plane sequence 4. The lifting of the yacht (I almost applauded in the theater) 5. Descending in the shadows of the Fortress (visual orgasm) 6. Catching the Planet Globe (iconic as it gets) 7. Spacey 8. Parker Posey 9. The flight sequence (what a stark difference to STM) 10. Listening in space/bullet in the eye.
I could actually go on. I REALLY love SR. There are much fewer things I dislike about it.

I love all those things too, Kev just said it first is all. I can watch SR over and over like I can with STM. I love watching STM and then SR right afterwards. You can see how Singer tried to hit the same beats as Donner. Wait a sec what is 5. Descending in the shadows of the Fortress (visual orgasm) I can't picture that bit.

When Supes is landing in the Fortress of Solitude before he finds the crystals missing and it's all dark and you can just kinda see parts of his costume in the light coming down. It's BEAUTIFUL.

If you shoot me, you're liable to lose a lot of those humanitarian awards.

10. Listening in space/bullet in the eye. Which isn't possible. Oh, I know we are talking about a flying guy but c'mon...sound can't travel through a vacuum.

Yeah, that was a great bit. Loved the shot of him flying through the offices just before
The way Routh looks at the camera seriously (edit: during the final shot above Earth) has grown on me too; he looks very cool.
I can't ever sit through the whole film, but I do skip to scenes on the DVD every now and again.

I didn't much care for Superman being shot in the eye, it was just a lame CGI effect; an attempt to look cool. The STM scene when Clark catches the bullet was MILES better.

I also loved seeing the opening credits for the first time. I had never seen a Superman movie in theaters before, so it was a nice treat.
And Adam, no, the credits weren't 3D for the IMAX 3D version. It was a waste of a perfectly good opportunity.
The plane rescue was an especially nice treat, especially since I had a dream almost 100% like that a couple years prior. It weirded me out a bit after I saw it.

Thanks for the clarification Kevin. Did you guys notice that after Superman catches the globe and lands it. Jimmy is taking all kinds of pics. The he stops and looks at his camera with a look of surprise as if a penny is dropping. Kind of like he has figured out that Superman and Clark are one and the same.

No, he's realizing he has the shot, THE single shot that's going to propel him to Jimmy Olsen, World Class Photographer.
