I haven't seen any of the Godfather movies as well. Just never got around to watching them.. I do want to see them, but I'm not in a hurry to watch them lol. They are worth watching, at least once.

I'm not challenging her dislike of The Godfather. I'm challenging her criteria for what makes a good movie. What? Aren't we allowed to do that? She's basically saying that a good looking actor makes a break a movie. I find that laughable. Deal with it. I never said that. You did. If you have paid any attention to my posts regarding Superman Returns over the months, you would know that I love the movie for many other reasons. That Brandon played the main character was only the icing on the cake. The Godfather is good/great or even the best movie EVER made for you and others, but that doesn't mean that I HAVE to feel or think the same way. Really, deal with it. You must not read very well. I said I wasn't challenging your dislike of The Godfather, I was challenging your criteria for what constitutes a good movie. And as you said, Brandon is hotter than Pacino. Therefore, he would make The Godfather better...even if Pacino is the better actor. So by that rationale, I logically conclude that your criteria is based on looks.

This is was my first comment in this thread where I mentioned The Godfather, I definitely enjoy SR A LOT more than the Godfather. In fact, I find the Godfather saga kinda boring and a little overrated, but I do realize these are great, well-made movies, no doubt. But they still bore me. Just don't care about them enough. Most of these mob movies are like that to me.
SR is infinitely more moving to me. Did I even mention Brandon in it? No. YOU are the one who did and who came up with the Pacino and Brandon comparison. And the baiting, something you often do, imo. And I'm done discussing this with you. Have nothing more to say. Think whatever you wish.

Comparing a fantasy film and a gangster film doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
There are a lot of great movies, that are ridiculous to compare to one another, because in some cases, the movies may belong in categories that are so different that it's a whole set of different set of aesthetics and criteria. What goes into the making of Godfather and what's important is probably a lot different into what goes into making a movie called Superman Returns.
"There are opinions and there is retardness"-- is a pretty harsh statement. What are you trying to prove? Are you saying that others are retarded if their opinion doesn't agree with yours? That the more harsh the language = your opinion is fact? Doesn't work that way.
If you take away the effects and music of SR, you have a delicately done romantic drama by Singer about someone who left and came back, with the complications of a child out of wedlock and a degree of humor in it. It's far more interesting (but blasphemous to some) that it uses iconic figures of Superman, Lois, and Clark in it- without it, though, and it's a well done drama that suprisingly stays away from being sentimental.
I won't defend the Luthor scenes; I've already said many times that they were weak.
You don't agree, that's fine. But neither your nor my opinion makes the other person necessarily mentally deficient, or the other person automatically wrong.
Godfather was fine, but it's not necessarily something I wish to watch over and over again. It's all about what you personally feel about a movie that counts- if we're discussing and arguing films, use a better tactic to back up your argument.
If you thought the script was shit, what do you think should have been done? Where was it shit? Was everything shit?
If you thought the acting was disappointing, who did you think failed to deliver? How should the acting have been better?
Your opinion is interesting- if it's being specific and opens other perspectives that may have points a person with an opposite opinion may be open to. Not if the tone is that another opinion is retarded if they don't agree with you.

Gazer, you have to admit you're not objective about anything Routh.

Well, that's just plain as day.
Didn't you read it? A few weeks/months back, stargazer said she liked Routh's performance as Superman better than Daniel Craig's performance as Bond...EVEN THOUGH SHE HADN'T SEEN CRAIG'S BOND.

Guys, Gazer said that she wished to drop it. Do so. Stop trying to pick at her. Nobody cares how bad that you guys hate that she likes Routh so much. Do something constructive, like respond to Cam's post

Do something constructive, like respond to Cam's post I could give a rat's ass if she marries Brandon Routh. I just find it annoying when I'm trying to discuss and debate movies. Why? Because we're trying to exchange ideas and then we have the predictable "I love Routh" agenda rammed down my throat anytime she shows up. It's great over a few beers or drinks at a bar or club, but very boring in a film discussion board.

Because we're trying to exchange ideas and then we have the predictable "I love Routh" agenda rammed down my throat anytime she shows up. So, stating your opinion or love for something is expressing your opinion or love for something, but, when she does the same thing, albeit in a very passionate way, its an agenda being rammed down your throat? Its really simple, she can state that she loves Routh without being picked at for it. When she tells you that she's done discussing it with you, then she's done discussing it with you. Picking at her further after that is starting trouble. The discussion turned towards Superman Returns & you guys are bemused becasue she likes SR better than Godfather. Who cares? Its her opinion. Just drop it. Before anyone starts with the favoritism or hypocrisy crap, I suggest looking at other posts where I've disagreed with her opinions quite strongly. If her love of Routh bothers you so much, then don't read her posts. Its not like shes spamming or cluttering. She's stating her love for an actors performance. You & Russ don't like it simply because you disagree with her. And thats just fine, but just dont keep egging on when she says shes done talking about it. Simple, really.

Dude, you just don't get it.
Look at Glennster's Helen Slater interview post. Everyone is discussing the interview, and what stargazer talk about? She mentions nothing about the interview and goes on a SR tangent.
It gets kinda old after a while.
And annoying.
If we can criticize Adam, we can criticize her.

She mentions nothing about the interview and goes on a SR tangent. Thats becasue Glennster reviewed SR. Should she have started a new thread for that? No. Glennster provided links to his reviews. SR was amongst them. Its fair game. Sorry. Sorry. No, this is different. Adam was trolling. Its VERY different. Drop this, please? She already did.

Ooops maybe shouldn't have mentioned Godfather!! Well Russ, one of my mates who is as big into movies as we are, hates the Godfather, loves Goodfellas, loves Casino (I never saw it), and adores SR. He thinks the Godfather is overrated drawn out crap and to say that SR drags in the third act is a joke by comparison to the Godfather as practically that whole movie is one long drawn out depressing drag. I found it ok, it was well shot, great music and acting but IMO even The Hangover is a much better film. It grabed my attention, great acting, very funny and I had a good time. Isn't that what makes a good movie? If you enjoy it?
So many people "like the Godfather" because everyone says to. Simple as. I watched it once, found it ok but boring and I'll never watch it ever again. The Shawshank Redeption is another moive which fights in Top Movie polls all the time with the Godfather but I could watch that one over and over again.
And I meant to put it in my earlier reply, if SIV was the first and only Supes movie before SR, what does everyone think the consensus regarding Reeve and SR in general??
