this week best buy is selling superman returns blu ray for 16 bucks. I was able to find the version with the trueHD locally. I know that a few superman fans were looking to get a copy. you might want to try there.

I found a TrueHD copy at Best Buy back around January. I checked every time I went there, and finally was one among a couple copies of the original release.

Hmm, I was there yesterday and it still had the $26 original sticker. Maybe they forgot.

Don't check the sticker. As I recall, the new version had a sticker on it too. Check the back of the case, and see if under Audio, it lists TrueHD and PCM.

So... is the Blu Ray Picture better than the murky travesty that was the DVD?

LOTS BETTER! My GAWD, man. There's a night and day difference between the DVD and Blu-ray version. The reds are brighter, it doesn't look as muddy, it's really a great transfer.

Yeah, it's not murky at all. It's not as brown as the DVD too.

Plus this is one of the best PCM tracks available.

I don't have a receiver that takes HDMI-in, so I'm stuck with using optical. It can't handle the bandwidth of TrueHD and 5.1 PCM, so I gotta settle for PS3 downscaling it to standard DD 5.1.
Someday....SOMEDAY!

Can the PS3 handle 7.1 surround sound with correct receiver?

Yeah, it can do everything. You just need a receiver that can take HDMI 1.3.

PCM down converted is better than any standard dd 5.1 or DTS track, in my experience.

I think its patheic you have to buy BluRay to see the film "properly"
I'm sure not buying this again (I'll rent someday if and when I upgrade)
If STM looks stunning on DVD then why can't this?

Does BluRay fix the story and the acting?

Does BluRay fix the story and the acting? Why fix what isn't broken?

By the way ATP, in GI Joe trailer it shows the Eiffel Tower being destroyed - so the villains rule the world scene is getting more and more possible.
