Since it looks that Superman Returns is not getting a sequel, and especially since Robinov announced last year that they were going to "reintroduce" the character, some of those who never liked SR much are now saying that BB got a sequel because it just is a MUCH better film than Returns. Is it really?
Let's remember that both films performed about the same at the BO and got good reviews, with BB getting just a little better reviews and with SR outperforming BB at the BO ww.
As a big SR fan, I disagree with that. I think SR is a great film, and I like it a lot more than BB. Maybe because I'm a big Superman fan? And I must admit that I'm not a Batman fan, but I've learned to like him a little. Also, I wasn't blown away by BB either, liked it but didn't do much for me, including Bale in the role.
So, I wanted to know you guys opinions on these 2 films, Which do you think is the better film or which one do you enjoy the most and why? And I guess it's possible to like both the same, maybe?

This poll is inherently flawed because the test sample is not randomly selected. The narrow audience to which this poll is directed will naturally yield results skewed to favor Superman. Even when taking into account the very unscientific nature of this poll and its inherent bias toward Superman, however, I can attested that Batman Begins will do better than expected due to the egregious difference in quality between the two films. Honestly, yeah in my opinion Batman Begins was miles better and it reintroduced Batman in a whole new way and people got all excited about new installments in this new Nolan universe, hence the sequel. SR, on the other hand, felt like an amateurish homage to a great film that really had nowhere left to go. Superman needs a fresh start to build sequels off of. Hey, it's great that SR came out, lots of people liked it, AND it paved the way for the Donner Cut! I even wannted to like it in the worst way because I knew the film had its heart in the right place. So in the end I believe history will see the film as a fitting end to the Reeve/Donner universe however ineptly handled. Now is the time, however, for a fresh start for Superman; a new foundational film to build sequals off of like STM was.

I remember walking out of Batman Begins realizing although it's well-made, well-acted, etc etc that I didn't actually enjoy it (ok, yeah, Batman's dark and psychological and all that, but am I not allowed to expect 'fun' from a Batman movie?). Superman, on the other hand, practically stapled a grin to my face on my way out of the theatre.
So yeah, SR all the way.

Batman Begins for me. Probably my favorite superhero movie next to STM. Returns was great, though. LOVE 'EM BOTH, but if I have to choose, I choose Batman Begins.

SR all the way. I saw it 4 times in the theater. It blew me away. Hasn't happened again until Star Trek.

Interesting--- I just thought at the time that as comic book fans, how lucky we were that both Superman and Batman got dynamic indie directors with intelligent approaches to the material. If anything, both SR and BB have an 'indie' feel to them-
SR I really love, but the down side is that the Luthor stuff just bores me stiff, the more I rewatch the film. The unique love story and re-introduction of the universe is fantastic, though. Not a perfect film, but perfect parts.
BB I really love, for getting Batman's origin totally spot on, as far as potential goes. The casting of Katie Holmes takes one out of the movie at times, though, and undermines the love story, which is a significant layer of the story. Also, the last half is a bit weak compared to the first half of the film.
Again, not a perfect film, but perfect parts. All in all, I'd have to say that both were oozing with high quality, but also had weak parts that were improved upon in BB's sequel.... pity that we might not have that same situation with SR.
Like them mostly about the same.

Walking out of Batman Begins, I was obviously disappointed by the ‘dark’ tone of the movie – but I really enjoyed the Liam Neeson story – and the training etc. reminded me of Bruce Lee actually. But as a Batman film – it was OK. I’d probably say it had a dam good cast!!! Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine – and Katie Holmes of course. I hated The Dark Knight – the worst Batman movie of all. Yeah I know – Heath Ledger, he wasn’t the main character, neither was Batman, the ugly Two Face was! The films title refers to him. But; guys – Superman Returns – although essentially a remake of part one – had it’s roots where it belonged. And I can’t wait for the sequel. The demographic crowd out their seems to prefer ‘dark’ movies. Thankfully, the latest Star Trek wasn’t.

Wow, I sure disagree there.
Batman Begins knocked SR out the park! There are parts of SR that are far better, but as a whole SR lost my interest, particularly the 3rd act as where BB held it throughout

So Begins is worse than Batman & Robin? I believe BB is second only to STM as far as super hero movies go.

I had the opposite reaction to each film:
When I first saw BB, I thought it was pretentious, dark and had all the fun sapped out of it. But then, with repeat viewings, I've grown to love the film and I don't share that sentiment anymore.
With SR, I loved it when I first saw it, but its flaws have become glaring with repeat viewings.
I enjoy both, but I think BB had the better execution.
SR's fatal flaw, for me, is that Lex Luthor was still camp. He should've been played more seriously---which I don't consider to be Spacey's fault. Lex should've been the CEO Lex, not the campy one from the 70s.
The other problem is that for a Superman film claiming to be the grand return, there's very little action, too much drama, and we see Superman get hurt way too many times. And there isn't even a super-villain in this film.
I enjoyed seeing the realistic approach to BB and I enjoyed seeing Batman's beginnings as a ninja. The supporting characters of Batman's world were played well. The villains were good. At first, I thought Liam Neeson was a little too normal, but I've come to really admire this approach---it fit with the character.
So overall, I thought SR was good, but BB got more things right.

In retrospect though, I'm probably more inclined to like Batman Begins instead since it actually spawned a sequel. I still enjoy SR for what it is, but in the back of my mind, I'm thinking "failed restart".

Whether or not a movie gets a sequel shouldn't influence how much you like it. I would have loved BB regardless of whether any sequels came out.

I kinda agree in the sense that if the perception is that SR was a failure then it kinda rubs off a bit even for those who used to like the film.

Yeah, but we're talking about SR, which wasn't as brilliantly executed as STM. You're also taking my comment out of context. The context being that for Superman's grand return to the big screen, we saw him get hurt way too many times when there wasn't even a supervillain. So we see Superman return...crawling out of a wreckage. We see Superman return... and get creamed by a group of veiny, no-name thugs, his screams muffled because he was getting owned. We see Superman return...andget overcome by Kryptonite...twice. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed SR, but I do have problems with some of it.

maybe, but the drama and romance was handled perfectly. This is only your opinion, not fact. I know many who would disagree with that. And I love STM.
