...Since Christopher Reeve's sad passing, some cast members have been somewhat mean about him and his acting methods. What was your impression of him and what was he really like...? "I hadn't heard that - who in particular?" "Jack for one." "Right, well - its all out there really. Chris was everything you saw on screen. If anything he was a stage actor with a huge picture resting on his shoulders..." "And he wanted to do the best job, make it right?" "Yeah..." "So this is the first time you've been back here since 1986 for Superman IV?" "Yeah! - I like your jacket - were you on the show?" "Ha! Thanks, no I wish." "It was great to finally meet you - thanks for coming!!" "Martin, it was nice to meet you - take care..."

Sounds reasonable enough to me.
If I hit the jackpot pretty much on my first film and I was the star and I was Superman, I probably wouldn't always be the most pleasant person to be around. Especially if I wanted to do a great job and really sell it within the film.

Juilliard trained actors don't fuck around.
I don't think Reeve stood a chance to NOT become a dick. How couldn't he?

Nice words. If people didn't like the way he worked, then forget it. Reeve was perfect onscreen. I love the recreation of the BTTF photograph. Neato.

Different background, but pretty damn similar. The still from the deleted BTTF2 scene looks neat too. It's a shame they deleted Mark's scene in that. I don't understand why they couldn't get Wendie Jo Sperber to appear in the alternate 1985 scene too, even if she's pregnant. That would have made it even more trippy, suddenly seeing your sister pregnant.

Really liked him as Jimmy. One of my favorite scenes of him was at the end of STM when he tells Lois that it seems that Superman "cares" about her a lot.. or something like that. ;D

I don't think its "mean" for people to speak their mind about their opinion of someone. I prefer the truth to BS
Reeve was only human; its obvious he was uber focussed. I respect people like that; I wish I worked with people like Reeve
Has anyone slagged off his acting methods?

I recall the anecdote from Margot Kidder. They were shooting the takeoff of the flying sequence. She smuggled a book into her nightgown, and whipped it out when they were suspended for hours and Reeve got annoyed. Hey, he wants to keep in character and take the material seriously, and wants her to do the same. There's nothing wrong there.
Perhaps the people who slag on Reeve for being too serious or being an asshole were just the ones who weren't acting professionally themselves?

Who the heck says you have to stay in character between takes anyway?

Who the heck says you have to stay in character between takes anyway? Not me. Don't be so argumentative, bud. You're on your last legs already. Oh, and to answer your question, method actors.

The insinuation was that only actors who were "unprofessional" would consider Reeve a dick for being too serious and always staying in character. Which of Reeve's co-stars who criticised him were unprofessional? And Reeve was NOT a method actor.

And Reeve was NOT a method actor. I never said he was.

So.... even qualifying that Reeve wasn't even a method actor to begin with, it is your position that he was indeed justified in always staying in character to the extent of chastising his apparently "unprofessional" cast members for not following suit?

I hate eye drops. I've been putting in eye drops in my eyes all day long. It's quite tiresome.

I didn't actually mean you legsy, I meant the back and fourth between Adam and Jimmy boy. I got kinda lost in what they were talking about, but I think this was contributed to me staring at a computer screen all day typing lots of damn word documents. I think my mind has pooped out on me. I wish you good luck for tomorrow anyway dude.

Marc McClure sure has a unique signature. I finally figured out that the huge symbol that looks like a giant Pi symbol is actually an M. I can see the A and R, but I see no K. Since I now know the the bizarre set of slashes is an M, I can make out M and C of Mc, and then Cl........
I'm looking at the pic with McClure and Martin. Was James Tolkan there too?
