Hmmm.
I suppose, given that I've defended Bay in this thread, I should clarify that I *did* like Superman Returns. And I would rather see a sequel to SR than one that ignores it.
I just want to see a Superman movie that's fun, adventurous and shows a super-power laden fight, ala SII.

Bay would have delivered better action scenes than Snyder but beyond that? Hard to say.
Bay would have had more clout than Snyder by that point. Something to think about

Man of steel did not have clanging balls, rascist caricature robot twins, or shia lebouf.
We dodged a bullet.

Fuck sake. What's more redundant, enriqus 15 threads a week, or digging up ancient threads?
We HAVE plenty of threads with which to kvetch about man of steel.
Its beyond pathological. Seek help.

What's funny is that
1) I was 1 of 3 that voted Bay in 2009 2) I initially defended Snyder as the pick (check the earlier pages in the MOS tread for proof)
For the record, Bay is much much better at conveying emotional content than Snyder. It's often gaudy and overly dramatic, but Bay knows how to pump up his audience. No matter how bad, I've NEVER been bored during a Bay film.
Snyder makes pretty pictures, but his last 2 or 3 films SUCK at the emotional connections.
Shit, I was falling asleep during MOS's climax. I've never admitted that before but there you have it: I was *falling asleep* during the climax of a new Superman movie.
I just didn't give a fuck.

No we just got guys getting punched through buildings for the last part of the movie while saying to heck with the consequences. We got Jor El riding Dragonfly Falcor. We got emo Superman part deux. We got some mega blatant product placement. We got glossed over story elements. And we got penis shaped phantom zone transport chambers. Yay.

Instead of the xerox maybe we should have gone with the original. Snyder already copied parts of Bays TF movies and I think Bay does his style better than some knock off director. At least when Optimus was kicking ass it meant something. Even during the Bayfests he came off as more of the heroic Prime we grew up watching. Bay would have remembered than fun isn't a dirty word even if the story was weak.

I'll be angry if Bay fucks up Grimlock. At least I know he will kick an ungodly amount of ass.

You will not agree with what Snyder is going to do. It is contrary to all that you have taught me. And all that Donner believed.

What the fuck was I thinking voting yes? Your brain said no, but your heart said yes.
