We've gotta defend our guy, legs. Besides, if he's good enough for Christopher Reeve he's good enough for me.

People do forget Reeve did give Welling his blessing. As he put it; "it's the passing of the torch".

His exact words were "Superman". I need to find the article. I remember reading an article related to that.. it could be the same one, dunno, and if I'm correct, Chris said that Superman should be played by an unknown, therefore it was too late for Welling. Something like that. Smallville fans always post the first part of that interview but fail to post the rest of it.. Any way, my guess is that he thought Welling was fine for teenage Clark, which he is.

Reeve for me, because he was so much fun. Kal-El loved playing a goofy character. In Superman II he admits it. But my favourite moment is in Superman III where they expanded his role and found the perfect balance -- check out the picnic scene.
SR didn't register on my radar.

Gandy, out of interest, do you listen to the soundtrack? I really love most of it, especially the opening creds, flying with Lois and end bits.

Tough one. Reeve and Cain are my top 2. Reeve is definitely the best Superman and his Cary Grant/Bringing Up Baby take on Clark Kent is always amusing. However, I've been watching Lois & Clark a lot lately and I like how Cain's CK actually provides some competition to his alterego in winning Lois' affections(and ultimately beats Superman for her affections near the end of season 2 before she figures out CK is Superman), so I voted for Cain.

There was some improvement in his Clark in SIII, yes, but perfect balance? Not really, IMO. Check this out, especially his "cute dancing" and the end.. .

Well, that was before Clark realized he didn't have to put on the bumbling dork shtick. I thought was a great touch, and it nothing else, shows Lester is capable of empathy toward his characters. Definitely agreed with Gandy on the picnic scene.

I thought it was well balanced. We see the bumbling Clark for a few seconds and then he goes back to Clark from Smallville. Awesome scene.

I think he looks ridiculous, and I don't think Clark is supposed to be that way. IMO, Clark should be the shy and nerdy type who stays in the background. A mild-mannered guy who is looked down upon and dismissed, just like Siegel and Shuster originally intended. To each their own.

Gotta go for Routh I thought he hit the nail on the head with his take, even though it was like a sneak preview what we saw, I instantly liked him. I want to see BR grow into the role, hopefully he might get another go

Clark Kent is a reporter for one of the greatest newspapers in the world.
You can't be a shy, nerdy background kinda character to be that.

I thought Clark was a writer? At least in all the incarnations I have seen.
