Well, I voted Reeve, but I have to tell you: I thought about voting for Dean Cain. George Reeves' Clark is REALLY good too. It's really close between those three. (I haven't seen Kirk Alyn despite owning the serials on DVD.)
There's just something epic about Reeve's portrayal of Clark as a wimpy, pleasing nerd. It reminds me of old Hollywood and grand movie stars. It's fitting that Brando---a man, at his best, known for delving into his roles---plays Reeve's dad.
That being said, I love Cain's normal guy apporach. I found it accessible, new, likable and different.
I liked Reeves' a lot too. He had that twinkle in his eye.

Nice to see people finally showing a little respect for Cain. The guy did the best he could with lots of awful material. To this day I feel like we got cheated out of the show Lois And Clark should have been.

Reeve without question for me. He pulled it off with such ease. You could always tell Metropolis Clark was a blast for Superman to play. It's always fascinating to me when I see an actor playing a character acting. That's what I like so much about the Donnerverse version of Clark and Reeve nailed it. The voice, the mannerisms, the posture. The man was just brilliant in that role and it can't be said enough. Routh was essentially playing the same character, but while good, did not seem comfortable enough in the role to let it fly the way Reeve did. Reeve gives you too many memorable moments as Clark for any other actor to touch him. SUPERB analysis . i think reeve was outstanding , the restrained physicallity of superman , where he wisely UNderplayed the part ( his words ) and counted on the visuals to make him "super" . it was what made him REALLY seem like a superman that everyone could believe in because he was so cool , calm- even though he could punch a hole in a mountain. then - being that character - AND pretending to be a timid socially akward guy at work -! this version of the character , its : superman is real and clark is pretend. in SIII , we see a blending- where he doesnt have to be metropolis clark , he's a more relaxed verison of both perosna's which is what makes his transition to surly-the-evil superman so intense ! - noble hero - in disguise as a frail , but sweet harmless guy - smallville clark , as close to his honest self as he can be w/out revealing - " evil " supes EPIC role .

Clark Kent is a reporter for one of the greatest newspapers in the world. You can't be a shy, nerdy background kinda character to be that. I disagree. I think people can be somewhat nerdy and shy and mild-mannered and still be good and competent at their jobs, be it a good reporter, a teacher and even a singer. They say Michael Jackson was pretty shy off the stage, Larry King looks like a total dork to me, and there are more examples, I'm sure. In Clark's case, he needs to be that way in his personal life, otherwise where is the believable disguise? He can't be all cool, assertive and charming like Supes. There must be a balance. And I think Brandon's Clark achieved that. .

Other than Routh is a VERY close second for me. Cain is a very distant 3rd.

Don't worry about Ye5man, Gazer.
He is insinuating that you only like Brandon because he's a good looking guy.
I'm not sure if he acts this way because you are a girl who happens to really like Routh in the Role, or because the fact that Brandon's suit had some padding, hurts the Stallone side of ye5man's manhood. ;D ;D ;D

insinuating?
That actually doesn't make any sense. If you want to do funny, I suggest you drop the "Chance" school of humour. Jeez.

No, it makes sense. Trust me. Oh, & since you just stated that its beyond insinuating, stop picking on Gazer. She doesn't make snide comments to you just because you are always crushing on Stallone's jock. ;D

Crushing on his jock? WTF?
Sorry, I really don't understand. I've never even heard that term before.
Picking on Gazer? Who's picking on her?

Ah yes, the standard exit.
Well, I still don't know how you reckon how my personal masculinty can feel threatened because Brandon Routh wore fake muscle padding but if it makes you feel better about yourself then go ahead and have the last word.

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.
