I think Superman III has the best Clark to Superman sequences.

Yes indeed, it also had some of the best flying - and Chris had the perfect Superman build.
But that's it.

You are both correct.
Reeve is HUGE in Superman 3.

Because it was a Richard Pryor comedy with Superman as a supporting act.
The flying scenes are majestic. Best flying scenes in ANY Superman film, including the more recent SR. Routh just went up and down. Reeve actually flew.

I've always said that there's a salvageable film in SIII once all the slapstick comedy was cut out.

Yep. The movie had potential. But Lester wanted to do a comedy. I loathe the beginning of the film. It's quite useless. 60% of the film is useless, the other 40% is actually damn good.

I wonder if anyone will ever do a SIII fan edit? It would be neat if someone created the regular style opening credits for the movie.

As far as Clark changing into Superman, I think SUPERMAN 1980's signature says it all. Very good transitions in S3 though. The fence one is pretty neat. I'd love to do an edit of Superman III, probably an extended cut like ABC, but none of the extra scenes are widescreen.

i LIKE " superman redeemed " , but i do want to see an 80-90 minute cut of SIII. i think it can be done , and i think pryor and vaughn could be toned down to lex/otis level camp.
even frame cutting and word trimming here and there would help .

Brandon levitated like a god. I suppose you mean when he wasn't replaced with a CGI model, which had to be at least half of Superman flying. I doubt any of the wide shots were of Brandon. The only thing I remember the actual Brandon doing was rolling over in the air. ;D He did that a lot. That CGI Superman to real Brandon transition at the end of the movie made me sad.

I love Returns but there is no denying Star that Singer used too much CGI! They even used a CGI cape in scenes when there was no need to. He must have been talking to Lucas about how fun CGI was! SR has too much green scene stuff. It looked pretty good but the movie felt like it was on a sound stage at all times. STM used New York. They were outside with wide shots of New York. There was natural sun which was brilliant. It displayed how liberating it was. Luthor's Lair even looked like it could be part of Grand Central with the stone work and the tunnel effects.
My main gripe with SR is the overuse of unnecesary CGI (end scene), the sets and the colour tinting. I lve the story line. I really do. I also don't get perry's line about the suit when in the photos of Supes before he left for krypton show the exact same suit. It would have been brilliant had they used Reeve's suit for the begining of the movie and then used the new suit.
However, SIII is an ok movie with great FX.

Flying scenes are almost awful in SR. Almost. Some parts are good but for the most part, it was pretty messed up throughout. The CGI was poor, Brandon looked uncomfortable as fuck in every scene he was ACTUALLY in wires for, I just don't get how they didn't nail it. Sometimes he even kinda listed in the air to the left or the right, not even straight up. There were literally like THREE damn scenes in Superman Returns where Superman flew that I full on enjoy with no complaints. That's pretty shitty.
SIII has really amazing FX and flying scenes, definitely one of the best landings, when he comes down in the junkyard. And him taking off behind the fence after transforming into Superman...yeah...this one had some damn good flight scenes.

The bridge scene STILL gives me chills. Sure he's quasi evil, but damn, that descend is just freaking beautiful.

It's a shame there's practically no wire removal for the DVD and HD transfer anymore for Superman III.

And you know what? I don't give a damn. I put it on from time to time just to see Reeve fly.

The new pics that got posted don't appear on my PC. The two you had there before also don't appear anymore. Every box has this in the top left hand corner... X [image] Thanks for putting up more pics though!
