Miss Teschmacher: [looking at Lex's newspaper] A meteorite found in Addis Ababa. Uh, I know I'm gonna get rapped in the mouth for this, but... So what? Lex Luthor: So what. You mean, to us, they're just meteorites. Fair enough. But the level of *specific* radioactivity is so high, to anyone from the planet Krypton, this substance is *lethal*! (TO HIM) Otis: Wait a minute, Mr. Luthor. You mean, fire and bullets can't hurt this guy, but this stuff here... Miss Teschmacher, Otis: [in unison] ... will kill him! Lex Luthor: Doesn't it give you, like, a shudder of electricity... to be in the same room with me? Miss Teschmacher: [laughs] Not like the shudder *you're* gonna get when you try to lay that rock on him. He can see you coming for miles with those super-peepers of his. Lex Luthor: [obviously, he's already thought of this] "Oh, Lord... You gave them eyes, yet they cannot see." Nor can Superman, through lead. Miss Teschmacher: [understanding] He... can't... see... through... lead! Lex Luthor: And Kryptonite will destroy him. Any questions, class?

If Gus hadn't of destroyed the Kryptonite ray from his Super Commodore 128k, Superman coulda used that ray on Nuclear Man and kill him with it, (as long as he didn't turn the ray on himself) rather than fukking with the solar system by pushing the moon from its orbit to do it.
Richard Pryor and his rock and roll lifestyle mood swings!

That's my second largest problem with this film, after turning the world around. Deductive reasoning, ha! They were just pulling that out of their asses. Bad writing.

If Superman gets his powers from our yellow sun, meaning yellow radiation. Then why did Nuclear Man almost kill Superman with his yellow radiation?

Remember the screenwriter commentary? Some people thought Nuclear Man gave Superman AIDS.

Kryptonite: meteor rock that have various effect on Superman depending of wath append in the scenario. Sometimes it seems to kill him even if he don’t touch it, sometimes he his able to fly and lift a giant island of Kryptonite even if he had a piece of it in his body

sadly , the best explanation came from smallville , where it is charatcerised as an " alergy" .
...which begs a question- are ALL kryptonians alllergic ? what if kal-el is that odd-ball who willdie if he eats peanut butter.

I dunno. Wasn't Kara susceptible to Kryptonite too? Legsy, Kirok?

i justthink it'd be aneat twist if superman wanted to ace general zod with kryptonite and zod shrugs and says " so what? "
remember brainiac in smallville- clark sicks him with kryptonite and he smiles " i'm not one of them- they just built me "
ouch!

If you test a rock, and it's radioactive, but it didn't end up hurting anyone, and arrived @ the same time as something else...

The wavelength frequency for kryptonite is so short that it passes right through human flesh and bones, but Superman's molecular density absorbs the full brunt of the radiation. Think of how X-Rays work and you'll get the idea.
Quite simple really.

In STM, how did Lex even know that the kryptonite was radioactive? In fact, how did he even know fragments had come to Earth?
He just made up a crazy assumption and then ripped out a picture of some dude holding up a green meteorite, as if everything he said was validated. ;D

You have to assume he did prior research before reaching that conclusion.

^Agreed.
Yeah, the movie is still wonderful and very enjoyable, but yes, there are ploth holes in it. Lazy writing.

Lex is holding a National Geographic. From his Library. Presumably, he ALREADY read it. And remembered it. He IS "the greatest criminal mind of our time." after all.

Still doesn't play out that way. "Specific Level Of Radiation"? ;D That sentence should have ended with: "Which I just pulled out of my ass." Lazy writing.
