Yeah, Darren, I hate to pull this sorta thing on you, you're my old buddy, but you obviously don't know what you're talking about. If you put two TVs together, same make and model, one playing Casino Royale on DVD and the other playing Casino Royale on Bluray, and you DON'T see a gigantic difference, you're either in need of eye glasses, or you're a woman. I've done testing. It's almost official. Most women can't tell the difference between HD and standard but that's because of one main reason: they don't care. Diamonds? Cars? Furniture? Get the best of the best, they can tell quality on those sorts of things. TVs? As long as it's in color, that's all they need and that's all they can perceive. If you are married to or are in a relationship with a girl who can tell the difference between HD and SD, be proud of what you have because it ain't very common. It's cool Kev. I might not know the technicalities of it all so well but I was not impressed with the quality at all. It was played through a HD TV with HDMI cables and what-not too. It just didn't jump out at me.

How big was the screen? I bet if it was something ginormous like 60", you'd be drooling. ;D

Sure, if you liked getting your childhood raped. Were you abused as a child, Jim?
;D
Joking, it was mindless fun. Bay makes great mindless flicks. All show no substance.

Many don't like the human moments. I really enjoyed the stuff with Sam's parents. I thought Shia carried the movie pretty well.

He's alright. I'm looking forward to his new flick. Did I just type that? Anyhoo, I just think Bay films are all show, no substance. Great CGI, great sound but no soul.

Michael Bay is the bestest director ever! Even bestest compared to Spielberg and Scott.

(Well, not really) ;D

If you are married to or are in a relationship with a girl who can tell the difference between HD and SD, be proud of what you have because it ain't very common. They are a rare breed to be sure. Chicks don't care how anything looks or sounds so long as they can sing along to the lyrics.

Crap. This just means I'm gonna have to take a decade instead of a half decade to finally own a home theater system. *sigh* I already rarely buy DVDs, even of movies I like; I'm just bad that way. But I've got a couple Blu-Rays purely for posterity. Those suckers aren't coming out of the shrinkwrap for YEARS. I so po' I can't even afford the last two letters of the word.

Netflix is a godsend. I'm getting a ton of Blu-rays through them for $20 a month. Those $25-$30 price tags in the stores are unacceptable.

Where I am the only rental place for blu-ray movies is lovefilm.com which is kinda useless to me since my PS3 is region 1 and the blu-ray movies over here need to be region free for me to play them. Still, I get my blu-ray movies cheaper and earlier than the UK releases when I buy them from the US.

Copying films = I can store them away in CD books instead of loads of fucking DVD cases everywhere.
I don't do it for all films, mostly older ones with no bonus features where I'm unlikely to watch more than twice.
