Just want you to know that I think your ruthless dissection of our favourite films (while juxtaposed to your own choices) will never fail to entertain me.
;D ;D ;D
I've still yet to see Superman Returns (yeah, I know, I should be demoted from admin.........still not seen the Donner Cut of SII yet either, lol) but ATP's continued bashing of it is making me wonder whether I should bother, given how much I trust his opinions on the world of cinema.

Man, talk about a combustible post. I wouldn't call it crap but the annoying kid should have been one of the choices.

When I think of superman, I don't think of the little cartoon after a rerun of House, MD*. Now whenever i see the opening, i do. Superman sitting across from lex luthor going "that's some bad toupee, Lexy".
*yeah, yeah, jaws reference, blah fucking blah.

I voted: the trailer. I saw a Loïs Lane who looks too young I realized that Brandon Routh didn´t have the charisma of a Superman I saw the Superman costume: blue, yellow and… brown Watching the movie didn’t help me to change my idea

"Bad Hat Harry" not "Alexander and Ilya Salkind"
Why the fuck was that significant? I don't know either but straight away you know something is off

although i do like the movie, i felt the opening with brandos voiceover and the lame credit sequence was where it went wrong.

Having the film open after the production company insignias with the Return to Krypton sequence, then having his ship go back to Earth at the end of this sequence segueing into the opening titles in space. That way, when you see Lex, it ain't the first fucking thing you see new in the movie. Which really bothered me a lot.
Taking out the Return to Krypton scene, I feel, really detracts from the movie. heck, put that in, if necessary take out a lot of Lex bullshit, and the movie would be golden.

I love it more every time I watch it. Which is often.

I think when i first saw the suit i though "oh no" it think the film is going to have problems. The film really doesn't know what it wants to be, a sequel or prequel. They should have started from the ground up and called it Superman V and be done with it and not give a cliche name like ' Returns '. What next?..Superman Forever!.. If it was just called Superman V everyone would have known where they were standing on how to approach the film. What we ended up was this bizarre hybrid a mix match of styles that doesn't really work. Its very baggy in places and the film needs trims here and there. If they decide one day to throw in the Krypton sequence the film will be even longer, doesn't matter how good that sequence is, it will still be way too long. Don't get me wrong i don't mind a Superman flick being nearly 3 hours long but the story for SR felt like a 100min plot being stretched over 2 hours.

The film doesn't have any balls in that respect, Olly. Does it want to be too close to STM or have its own identity? Fuck knows. I blame WB for that one.
Nobody I know in the real world actually likes it. Actually, Val Smith, you may be the only one, lol.
