Here's something not mentioned yet: How much do you think WB expects for Nolan's reboot to make? If SR's $391 million was a 'disappointment' (I've always felt that if they slashed the budget, that SR would have been considered a bigger success, as it still made $20 million more than Batman Begins)..... then WHAT DOES WB expect?
Given that Nolan delivered a billion dollars with the sequel (I'd bet that, if Singer had gone forward with his action packed MOS might have taken in the same or more)....
What do you think WB's expectations will be from Nolan if it makes anything less than $391 worldwide? I've posted boxoffice mojo's superhero films that have made approximately the same range worldwide next to the choices.
Personally, if Sony could feel fine dumping Raimi after generating all that cash for Sony (a HUGE mistake imo)---- then what demands do you think WB has for the reboot boxoffice wise?
Or..... is WB thinking longterm with Nolan? Thoughts?

Knowing WB, they'll want $1 Billion but will only get $400 Million. At that point WB will fire Nolan because the movie didn't their expectations.
That sounds about right.

No more reboot threads please. I think the answer is obvious.

Fair enough- I was trying to think of some way that a poll could just be plunked into that SR discussion thread out of curiosity, wasn't trying to flood the forum with too many polls, no probs if you want to delete, though- in hindsight, I probably should have just put the idea I was hoping to discuss over there first--- then if it got too unwieldly, then suggest a separate poll. What I was hoping to get at was this: #1: Was WB just dumb to open up a budget so huge as to have unrealistic expectations for SR? For what I liked of SR, I would have probably enjoyed it just as much had- say, Lex's boat been scaled down, or the cgi Kryptonite land masses been toned down. I didn't mind the money put in, but what drew me to the film was what they did with the character scenes and the artistry put into it. I wouldn't have complained if some of the excesses had been trimmed a bit. #2: Has WB learned its lesson/ learning its lesson? Maybe (if they're smart) === while it's realistic to expect maybe half of what TDK did for Batman 3 (whatever it gets named), maybe WB SHOULDN'T be so unrealistic about what they expected from Singer and now from Nolan? If only someone who was in the know from WB was on this forum....*sigh* In any case, no worries on closing the thread- thought it might have opened up a lot of different opinions on this, but maybe it really should in hindsight have stuck with the SR thread...apologies-

A factor I hadn't thought of: If Spiderman 4 is going to be pre-planned for 3d, I imagine that TDK 2 and the next Superman film would be, too...... so, if that's the case:
Automatically 2 billion expected by WB right off the bat, or it's a disappointment for a Superman film from now on? Yeesh. ;p
Paramont seemed to have done better (for the most part) with its Trek franchise. Keep the budget lower, but maintain the focus on character and story, keeping the same cast/crew....
At least it got them through SIX films..... *sigh*
Curious as to what the 'official' news will be. I will be shocked (but happy as a clam) if it's Routh/Singer doing MOS after all....

Thanks for getting our hopes up, CAM. You're going to make me cry when the Michael Bay-directed reboot is announced.

I think we'll all cry when the Michael Bay-directed reboot is announced.
On the flip side, it'll look nice and have plenty of CGI explosions. ;p

I have a hunch Nolan isn't the type to let a lot of things get out of his hands, regardless of the director. Could be wrong, but it seems like it would have to be a director who either Nolan trusts a LOT or one who would just do Nolan's bidding.
Having a situation where two 'a'-list directors work closely together amazed me in the case of the new Hobbit movie with Peter Jackson and Gullerman Del Toro.....
- or Speilberg and Lucas (Ok, he's proven not to be an 'a'-list director but an 'a'-list producer over time, but...) on Indiana Jones....
Seems like an exception and not necessarily the norm.
So--- would be a big suprise to me if it's a big name that ends up directing--- (although I'm still hoping Singer is director even at this point).
