I hope this is closer to the mark, my fault for not quite phrasing it better before.
In the comics prior to Frank Miller- they WERE 'drinking buds'---- (though Batman was arguably less dark prior to Miller's Dark Knight).
In comic books, Post-Frank Miller, Batman seemed to have a degree of disdain for 'the boy scout'- as possibly too naive and even seemed to look down on Superman.
Nowadays (Too expensive to totally keep up with comix)- it seems to be a mix.
What feels most right to you? Imo- Superman seems to stay consistent- the flaw being that at times he can be too trusting, as he's the embodiment of hope and the best of what humanity can be inside.
Batman is the opposite: any stranger that could walk right up to him and murder his parents right in front of his eyes would probably make Batman distrustful of any being that has more power than himself.
However- Batman has been known to recognize (over time) who he could trust enough--- or does he ONLY trust Alfred (his guardian) and Robin (who is essentially his son), and never really trust anyone else on the planet? ((Look what happened when he trusted Harvey Dent- in both comix and movies))
So... if Superman is a friend to everyone- maybe this is more a Batman question- CAN Batman/Superman be friends---- (a la Public Enemies)---- or Not REALLY....
Thoughts?

Starts off with Bats being distrusting and holier than thou, and ends with them being as close to drinking buddies as Bats can have with another human being.
Traditionally.

Perhaps Superman should drink with Iron Man.

They'd get on fine. Both are now angsty guys with issues who stalk people and wear dark uniforms.

In a perfect world, we'd have gotten something like this: It's refreshing to see someone remember Reeve and Keaton in a YouTube filled with horribly slapped together Routh and Bale videos using nothing but low quality versions of the BB, TDK and SR trailers. I know you've all seen them. Once I have time to get back into leisure editing, a set of World's Finest trailers is definitely on my to-do list.

They're drinking buds. Always thought that. "Comrades in arms" i believe Grant Morrison said once. At least they always were in my opinion reading comics growing up.

I grew up with the comics as having the two as best friends (for the most part), too--- that's why the Frank Miller Dark Knight was such a shocker to actually see a 'somewhat canon' version of the two of them at odds with each other in "The Dark Knight Returns".... and then sort of incorporated (for awhile) in DC comics.
Both versions would seem credible--- that either Bruce Wayne would breath a sigh of relief upon discovering the existence of Superman and know that he's not the only one having to fight crime, in case he ever died/failed...
.... or that Bruce Wayne would automatically distrust a Superman as being too good and too powerful to be the real deal- and never let himself get TOO close or trust in the idea of an invincible force for good in the form of a person 100%.
I actually thought there would be more strong opinions either way, but nowadays, the dc comics seem to be sort of in the middle in terms of how they view one another--- (at least last I saw in JLA #0) that Superman is a genuine friend, but Batman still can be at times arrogant enough to distrust him.
In any case, it's hard to picture Nolan's Batman also existing in Superman's universe. It would be fun, but to me, it would also lessen the impact of Batman being the ONLY super-heroic symbol for good in the Nolan-verse.

So what kinda beer does Superman and Batman drink?
Gotta say Batman's the dark character, so maybe Guinness?
Superman's gotta be a Miller High Life kinda guy.

If Superman did have a drink with Bats, it would have to be something domestic. After all, he's all about the American way right? lol. Batman I don't see drinking at all. My idealized version of Batman doesn't drink at all. He wouldn't take out his problem on the bottle. He'd take it out on the criminals lol.

According to the Donnerverse, he doesn't drink when he flies, but has to go the men's room soon if he eats Lois' souffles. Presumably he eats apple pie, but it's never been shown on film. In the Singerverse, he does eat veggie burritos as Clark Kent. On Smallville, I don't think Clark ever is shown to eat anything, as (until recently) he only had the blue shirt and red jacket as his wardrobe, and didn't want to get it dirty. In the Nolanverse, there will be much speculation what his dietary habits will be. Including food in CGI. (If not, I'll make a thread about this.)

In Mattverse, Supes drinks the high life. And a big fat bald man in a miller delivery costume gives him the thumbs up and free hot wings. Then proceeds to take away bruce wayne's high life in the reserved section of the bar. 'Cause he most definitely ISN'T living the high life.
