Problem is, we'll never get a proper sci fi Superman epic. Donner's were set in reality. Nolan's will DEFINITELY be set in reality. I just wanna see Superman fly through an alien spaceship and tear others apart with his heat vision and fists. I wanna see all out Superman action that we as the people of earth have NEVER seen outside of comics and cartoons. Agree completely. Long overdue.

I find myself not giving much of a fuck.
Goyers got a 50/50 chance of digging something out of the deepest regions of his bowels and calling it a story that Nolan will have to clean up while the suits at WB are there digging the ticks off each others asses.
Nolan's cool but is WB so braindead that they can't think of anyone else to do this that they wont take a risk? I swear they'd sell DC comics as jizzrags if they could. I guess they have to learn from every DC comic character getting the Batman & Robin treatment and failing before they learn not to fuck them up a second time.

Make him as vulnerable as he is in the animated series. That'd be good. Not so God like. Be he IS a GOD on earth, thats how the character was created. Why change?? He's supposed to blow out stars and push planets. I can see WB making him weak so they dont have to spend money on an all out battle with a worthy opponent done in cgi. Cheap @#$%^&&*&*. ALA..Hulk v.s Abomination...That was masterful

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I feel the same damn way. The only reason WB hired Goyer was because of Nolan. And, I have a feeling Nolan's Supes will make a shit load of money, but will it be a good movie? WB just sees $ signs, that's all. Nolan's Supes will be a hit, because Nolan is attached to the project. The question is, will it be the critical success SR was? Yeah, you haters hate it, but SR did get praise from the critics and most of the fans. Time will tell.

My predictions:
• Superman will be established, if he has power or strength limitations he knows about them already. • Brainiac will provide the grand scale action as the main villian. His presence will serve as justification for Krypton flashbacks • This movie will exist without Lex Luthor. They may intro him at the very end similar to how they ended Batman Begins with the Joker. • We’ll see more of Clark actually being a journalist and outdoing Lois, she will actually dislike Clark rather than pity him. • Clark will not be a dork • Clark Kent and Superman will look more like different people again. • The suit will be bright once more and the S logo will be the biggest yet. • Metropolis will once again be based in/on Manhattan • Loads more FOS time in this movie and it will have a completely new take • They’ll cast someone in their mid or maybe late 30’s. If it’s a hit they could do 2 sequels and the lead actor would still be a credible age
Who I’d love to see play this out:
Clark Kent/Superman – Jon Hamm Lois Lane - Rachel McAdams Brainiac - Nicolas Cage Perry White – Alec Baldwin

Alex Baldwin would be a pretty good Perry actually but I also think Hugh Laurie would be interesting as Perry too. And Jon Hamm certainly has that 'Kingdom Come' look about him - which I believe is probably what Nolan will probably inject/use in the movie.

Bottom photo is quality
No way WB will have the balls for someone his age. A real shame.
Is this new film still going to be a 1940s period piece? I damn well hope so!

I doubt that's happening. If I can get into the head of a WB exec, I bet they're thinking it should be modern day so that would be able to do a tie-in movie with Batman or Green Lantern like Marvel is doing with the Avengers at a later date.

Interesting ideas... sounds very plausible- the only one that I have serious doubts about would be the lead actor being in the late 30's being cast. Given how long these movies take to get sequels started, (even when they're megahits), it's not impossible, but would be a bit skeptical if they do cast beyond mid-30s....

Why does Brainiac have to be an actor, why cant he be a CGI'd monster...We've seen enough of superman fighting people.

Personally, I'd prefer Brainiac to be an actor- enhanced by CGI, if need be. A great casting choice (imo) trumps a computer generated one.... I'm not against CGI villains, so long as there are 'REAL' human performances in the film as well! (Who could beat Terence Stamp as Zod or Heath Ledger as the Joker? (Well, besides Jack, maybe...) )

I don't think he really needs to be a monster or totally cgi since he usually has a humanoid looking shape. Even the robotic skeleton was more or less man sized. I suppose that could be CGI but I doubt they would make him look totally like that. Maybe a combo of the more well known Braniac looks using a combo of CG, make up, and costuming.

I dont know much about Brainiac but understand he's an android so it'd be a CGI fest anyway.
A few times now Nolan has suggested he'll continue to surround his leading actor/s with hollywood heavyweights. he said that approach taken with STM insipred him to take a simliar approach with BB and TDK.
I reckon Cage would be a wicked Brainiac, he's obviously connected to the Superman world and has played a bad guy well before.

Downey jr is in his 40's and mid way through a trilogy (Avengers as the 3rd).
Superman is supposed to be the most 'manly' of them all which should be depicted in his look. I have a problem with them casting another boy-man
Reeve was an exception in STM and SII looking older beyond his years

John Wayne would have made a great Superman. Why? Because he's John Fucking Wayne.

Reeve was an exception in STM and SII looking older beyond his years Reeve had a time-less look about him, very classical. Not many guys are like that. We definitely need a real man for the role and not some fucking pretty boy or Reeve clone. No one under 6' 2 either.

Reeve comes from the era where every hero is real "man's man" and reminds of characters/people such as: James T Kirk / William Shatner Gregory Peck / Atticus Finch Chartlon Heston / Ben Hur A lot of the 'classical' hero seems to have faded away in movies these days unfortunately.
