It'll be interesting to see what happens (if the world survives) years from now Don't worry, there WILL be a 2013. The Mayans just got lazy with their numbering. ;D

The white men killed them before they had a chance to finish it.
Seriously, The Mayans don't see it as the end of the world, they see it as the beginning of a new cycle or calendar. Whatevs.

Hey all,
personal wishlist here:
Well..since Nolan will be overseeing it and possibly nothing else....and he has great admiration of Donner....I would love to see a collaboration of the two overseeing this project.
Casting: Leave Routh in, just let him bulk up more for the role.
The Costume: Go back towards the older style and colors from the Reeve era or even the Superboy TV series. I know the batman costume is different and more believeable as someone built it at home, but unless they are going to make Martha a master seamstress and go with a Man of Steel-esque storyline, make that the most recognizable part of Superman.
Theme and music: I like what Ottman did by using the Williams score and adapting it. The Williams score is one of, if not THE, most recognizable theme songs in history and much like the James Bond score, it's not the same without it. But it can be adapted to fit any style so keep it as much as possible.
my two cents

Ah...so one interpretation of those ancient prophecies could be that the Mayans foretold of a new Superman movie from Warner Brothers in the year 2013? Damn, they're good!

;D That's a great point. Will never be able to look at the SR costume with all the miniature 's's without the Martha angle angle again! (Not to mention the boot 's's. Martha's talents were wasted on that farm!)

well, since we're all going to shoot wind out of our ass and HOPE it gets enough traction to get mainstreamed, and by getting mainstreamed WB will force nolan to do it, let me just pile on some ol' Jor made-from-scratch-bullshit. the premise is a futuristic setting, and the villain is a time-travellar. ( not kingdom come- just follow me here ) EVERY previous version of superman will be seen as a vague-history as the villains time travelling changes continuity so smallville, george reeves, lois and clark all become a 2000 hour prequel to the new one. lex luthor: metallo: darksied: brainiac: jor-el gaurding the fortress: THEME by DANNY ELFMAN ( actually the theme will be a beatbox remix of elfman themes from betelgeuse and B:TAS {all sound the same anyway} )

Uh-bama's fate will be sealed this November when the ephelants take back congress. Meaning his healthcare plan is dead either way. The only way O'Bomber will be reelected is if he actually kills Bin Laden with his own bare hands, and if the economy turns around within the next seven and a half months.
But enough of that, there's always the politics thread.
Jor, WTF? Boy George as Brainiac?

Thanks. Too much politics on both sides in the daily news as it is.... glad if this thread is gonna stay away from it- I don't care who fixes the economy, as long as it gets fixed. Soon.
More important things: Casting speculation is beginning? Yeah!
* Brando as Jor-el? Well.... I guess they could, but his dialogue would be limited to anything that Brando recorded when he was alive...

Haha I can hear it now...
Superman "Father, how can I beat brainiac?" Jorel "You should make him an offer he can't refuse"
Brainiac beats up Superman.
Jorel "My boy, look what they did to my boy"

He is soooooooo setting himself up as a one-term President. wait a minute, is he really that unpopular already? Yep in the low to mid 40% approval rating depending on which pole you read. Yesterday I read that his poles are lower than that of McCain's during the election. I doubt he gets reelected, and is because we Americans are ofcourse Big Fat Nasty Racists ;D

uhhh.... is anyone interested in talking about the Chris Nolan Superman movie again? Politics and Religion..... oooph...... separate thread? Here's one: What kind of tone are we going to get? Again, EVERY one of Nolan's films is pretty dark- SR was criticized (debatable whether fairly or not) for its dark tone, though I'd say that it was more somber (maybe that's splitting hairs than dark). Nolan's films are on the edge of being horror films (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but- anyways- curious- is that worrying anyone here? Or not really?

People will be content with a dark film, so long as the suit is bright. ;D

Well... As the forum now is going into a new direction- There's confidence in the new team, but even with trust in Nolan, curiosity has to be starting...
(at least it is with me)- What is the content going to be about? Should it be about?
For my own two cents, I'm hoping it has Brainiac (and not the Smallville version). If not, the Phantom Zone criminals in a new version of some sort.
While Batman Begins was a great 'warmup' movie to Dark Knight, I'm hoping that the NOlan version is not JUST a warmup to a sequel that may or may not happen years down the line.

Boomer was a leading contender for the role a few years ago. I thought he was too young for the part then but he's grown into being right IMO. And that Japanese commercial was for laughs; hardly something to judge him off of. His height would be the biggest thing working against him.
I know there's a lot of division on Billy Zane, but there's no question he has the look. And it's not just because he's bald, he has the presence and build as well. He also has the perfect voice for Luthor. He's played the corrupt/crazed businessman before (just watch "Titanic") so he could pull off the role. He'd certainly has more menace than Hackman or Spacey as Luthor, that's for sure.
What about my other suggestions?
