Why don't you do yourself a flavor and freeze?
i'm 100% sure this has been brought up before, but why on earth does hackman say this? has this ever been explained? i could understand it if luthor was blasting superman with vanilla ice cream, but no...it's just ice.

Perhaps it was a flub that was never caught. After all, it was inserted into the extended cut by Michael Thau.
Remember, he also inserted the flubbed "too true to be good" take in the Donner cut. There were definitely available takes of Hackman saying the line correctly because one was used in the RIC.
Just blame Thau for it. ;D

Jimbo makes an interesting point about both instances of Luthor's "play on words" being the result of Thau re-editing. I don't think they're mistakes though. Donner apparently shot a lot of footage, so one could assume these were just random experiments in having fun with the lines in alternate takes. I don't mind either of them actually, they fit this version of the Luthor character.
