So I'm on the computer and have Superman III playing in the background when the dreaded battling traffic lights sequence comes on and I see the guy at the ATM.
For some reason, I always thought that might've been Horschack from Welcome Back, Kotter.
But since I'm at the computer at the same time as I'm listening to the film, I decide to check IMDB.
It's fucking Deputy Dwayne from Superman II!
Holy shit, I'm still discovering new things about this series.
Did you guys know this?

Gotta be honest, I haven't watched 3 (or 4 for that matter0 in their entirety since I was probably around 8 yeas old. However, I do watch the "Superman Redeemed" fan edit every so often and I noticed that the cop that stops the bus because of the chemical fire is the same guy that was in the mission control scene from 2. The guy who says "That fire is spreading like...wildfire (laughs)".

Superman Redeemed is the edit that creates a new film out III and IV right? How is it? Does it really fit together well enough to watch it as a complete film?
I'd like to see it but I'm not big on the downloading stuff.

In SII he is in the fishing boat when villains arrive. In SIII he gets the pie in the face.

I'd like to see it but I'm not big on the downloading stuff. Conceptually its brilliant, combining SIII and SIV with a dash of Lester's SII to tie it all together. Some weak points would be the custom opening credits sequence and Reeve's (unavoidably) changing appearance as it cuts back and forth between films, but if you can look past those things you'll find it an entertaining new Christopher Reeve Superman adventure. Fan edits like this that take the source material and turn it into something radically different I really admire. It's one of my favorite (fan edits) and I highly recommend it. I only wish ADigitalMan would give this a second pass and redo the opening credits (as well as possibly switch out the deleted SII Luthor escape with his escape from SIV).

The general ("I answer only to the president") from S2 is Mr. Hornsby in S4.
The tanker captain from S3 is the US president in S4.
Owen Lars and R.K. Maroon are in the XK-101 launch center in STM.
John Ratzenberger, in addition to his two roles in STM and S2 (XK101 launcher and mission control), he also does a voiceover during the East Houston news report.

I wish he would re-arrange the ending. For me it shouldn't end with Supes dropping Luthor off to jail. That should happen BEFORE he gives Lana the ring and we see her at the Daily Planet. The ending order should go like this:
After Nuclear Man is defeated, Luthor is brought back to prison. THEN Clark and Lana scenes from part 3. THEN end it with Superman's speech about how "it's all one big world out there".
To be honest, I'm so used to Reeve's changing appearance in both parts 1 and 2 already, that the changes from 3 to 4 don't really bother me all that much when I watch this edit. I watch it with an easygoing demeanor already so I don't take it that seriously.
But yeah, I've seen A LOT of fan edits and "Redeemed" is one of my favorites. With my fan cut of S2, and Superman Redeemed, I now have an "almost" perfect Reeve Superman trilogy.

Valid points about Reeve's different looks in STM and SII. The price of filming simultaneously before your star is 100% in shape. What's the story on that anyway, couldn't they have waited on Reeve to get physique right? Or at least filmed all the Clark Kent scenes first in order to mask the inconsistencies? It sticks out the most in the extended edition Jor-El scene in STM (which in their defense was a deleted scene) and in the final showdown in the Fortress in SII (in Lester's version anyway, when it switches back-and-forth between Donner and Lester footage).
I haven't watched Redeemed in a while but all this talk has got me in the mood. I'll give it a watch this week if I get a chance. Also I'll see if we have a thread on it somewhere to redirect our discussion to...

Donner inherited the schedules of Brando and Hackman that the Salkind set up, if I'm not mistaken. Their time in the film was locked in already, early into production. They just didn't have the time to get Reeve to 100%.

Watch The Spy Who Loved me and in one scene on the main deck of the USS Wayne submarine you will see Shane Rimmer as Commander Carter (Controller #2 in SII and State Policeman in SIII), Peter Whitman as a crewman (Deputy Dwayne in SII and Man at ATM in SIII), and Ray Hassett as a crewman (Officer 2 in STM).
