That is awful news. On the RDC bts, he seemed still sharp as a tack and he seemed like a true gent in the interviews. RIP, indeed.

Read it on imdb while I was at work. Really sad news. I always enjoyed watching him bts and interviews. I loved listening to him and Donner reminisce on the commentaries. RIP,Tom. Donner must be heartbroken.

I honestly don't know who I would be today had it not been for the film that this fine gentlemen helped to craft.
Rest well Mank, we, all of us here, owe you our very friendships that we have with each other.

I REALLY enjoyed Manks insights on the development of Batman 89 on the documentaries included in the Batman movie series dvd's released a few years ago.
Inviting him to participate was a classy acknowledgment on WB's part of how good a writer he was, his work on Superman that kick started the genre, and his initial work on the Batman movie in its earliest stages.
Very informative. I'd recommend any of you guys that haven't watched his parts on there give it a look.

Rest in peace, Mr. Mankiewicz. Thanks for your work on two of my favorite films.

STM definitely caused a big impact in my life. I didn't watch it often while growing up like most people here, but I loved it and could never forget it. I prefer it (and Supes 2 and SR) over the old Star Wars movies, and I like those a lot. No doubt.

I didn't know he was ill so this news came as a shock to me. Rest in peace, Tom. Your contribution to The Donner Cut aside, you did some great work through the years and your talents will always be remembered and appreciated here.

Damnit. I'm just so shocked. It totally sucks he's gone. FUCK! I swear, I need to just Mank it out now one day. Just a bunch of his stuff he directed and wrote. Just watch a bunch of shit in dedication. Wish I could have met him at some point in my life.

I remember hearing about "Mank" having cancer, I assumed he'd beaten it. *sigh* Another great one gone... He seemed like a real gent in interviews with a great sense of humor and stories to tell. I'd liked to have known him. Thanks for making us believe Mr. Mankiewicz, your contributions to the world of Superman were and are pure gold. Say hi to Marlon, Glen, Geoffrey, Roy and Chris for us, and if you can find him, have a word with my Granddad, I have a feeling you guys would get along....

This is a shock, i had no idea Tom was ill. He was such a down to earth guy and had lots more life left to live. I watch his interviews with Donner over and over, the world has lost a great writer. STM never feels old to me, it feels like yesterday when i saw it at the cinema for the first time and even today it still feels fresh and new everytime i watch it. But its really sad when all the great cast and crew involved in the film seem to pass away one by one. Life is so unfair, why cant these people live on forever like the film RIP Tom

The guy was so articulate in interviews and had a good memory; I always enjoyed watching him. I didn't even know he was ill. I am genuinely saddened over this news.
Poor Donner must be devastated.

Thanks for posting that script, Scissor. I'll definitely be checking it out. From what I understand it has Joker, Penguin, and Rupert Thorne (not to mention Robin!). Seems rather crowded but BB and TDK each had a lot of villains too and it seemed to work, it's just the idea of Joker and Penguin together puts images of the 60s Batman in my head.

Nice find, Belloq. Of course if I like what I read I might go back and read the script, but if not it will have seriously saved me some time.

I cannot believe that the news stations and their websites haven't got this. I could only get the following. Makes me want to even more. The news media doesn't really care about screenwriters. They contribute more to movies than actors ever do, but society is focused on celebs, not the people who work behind the scenes. Sad, but true.

That is true, just looking at today's Entertainment News on the news sites is all who's just out of jail is worse than who's, who is going out with who, who is is doing this with who.
Then someone with more talent in his little finger than all of them put together passes. No one gives a damn, except us here on this Forum and a few other like minded Forums, The other Supes Forums, The Bond Forums, and other like minded people.
There is no class any more.

I wonder if the Academy will remember to put him in the "In Memoriam" section of the next Oscars.
