I've decided to break down and give Smallville more of a shot. I watched the pilot today and enjoyed a majority of it.
For someone just getting started on the show, what episodes should I make a point to watch? I watched the Reeve episodes when they first aired and am looking forward to rewatching them.
I heard a season 2 episode called "Red" is good. I have access to all the seasons on DVD so help would be appreciated

Ugh, red kryptonite episodes. Well, I guess the first one is ok since it's just that, the FIRST one.
Be aware that there is a red kryptonite episode every season, and they increase in lame-itude.
Both of the episodes with Reeve are good, as is the episode where Lex lives an alternate life.

Seasons 1 and 5 are my favorite, so I'd concentrate on those. I think of the first season as, "Smallville: The Adventures of Clark Kent When He Was a Boy," and the fifth as "Clark and Chloe: The Young Adventures of Superman."
As for recommended episodes, definitely check these out:
SEASON 1 - This is a though one, it has a lot of good episodes Pilot Metamorphosis X-Ray Hourglass Rogue Leech Tempest
SEASON 2 - Avoid Native American caves and Red Kryptonite at all costs Heat Duplicity Visage Insurgence Rosetta Calling Exodus
SEASON 3 - Same warning as Season 2 Exile Phoenix Perry Shattered Asylum Memoria Covenant
SEASON 4 - Weakest season by far, avoid football and witches Run Transference Sacred Onyx Commencement
SEASON 5 - Arguably the best season, it's all one overarching story but here are the highlights Arrival Hidden Solitude Reckoning Vengence Cyborg Vessel
SEASON 6 - Green Arrow=EPIC WIN, Lex and Lana=EPIC FAIL Zod Arrow Rage Justice Labrynth Phantom
SEASON 7 - Supergirl turned out better than expected, and Lex finally "turns to the dark side" Bizarro Cure Blue Fracture Decent Apocalypse

Thanks. I'm not ashamed to know the title of every episode. Although maybe I should be...

Well, they're not exactly hard titles.
I'm the one who knows crazy DS9 titles like Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges, so I should be the one who's ashamed. ;D

Kirok's list is damn good.
Generally speaking, if there's a major character introduction (Green Arrow, Flash, Jor-El, Reeve, Zod, etc) it's worth a watch.
While I still LOVE that pilot episode, I find the show to be aggressively mediocre, but they step it up when they have to.

I will say for Smallville they've had a fantastic line of guest stars and has known how to use them unlike Lois and Clark. They pretty much wasted a lot of good people from comic book adaptations past like Mark Lindsay Chapman (Anton Arcane), Adam West (Batman), Frank Gorshin (Riddler), Jack Larson (Jimmy Olsen), and Eric Kramer (Thor). Only Phylis Coates had a REALLY nice guest spot.
Smallville has had Helen Slater, Chris Reeve, Lynda Carter, Dean Cain, Terence Stamp, Marc McClure and anyone else I've forgotten and used them all brilliantly from what I've seen.

I'd watch also the episodes: Ryan and also Stray. Two very good episodes with a boy we get attach to.
Metallo, you forgot about Margot Kidder that was also in Smallville!

Thanks. yeah see I knew I'd forget somebody! I hope they can get Jack Larson and Noel Neil on there before its too late. Tim Daly Dana Delaney and Gerard Christophe are also musts. You know if Terence Stamp wasn't already the voice of Jor-El I'd say have Daly as Jor-El.

Tim Daly Dana Delaney and Gerard Christophe are also musts. You know if Terence Stamp wasn't already the voice of Jor-El I'd say have Daly as Jor-El. I'm all for Gerard Christopher being the PHYSCIAL Jor-El, if we ever see him that is. It seems we're never going to see Stamp's Jor-El "in the flesh," maybe because he's too old, maybe because it's not in the budget, but regardless Jor-El needs to be seen before it's all said and done. I'm not sure exactly how I'd approach it though. Gerard lip syncing to Stamp's voice might come off rather lame...

Just watched this one, thought it was a GREAT Lex story. I'm enjoying nearly all the twists and turns the shows puts on all the characters. I thought Lex's backstory was handled very well in this episode and was totally belieavable within the "else-worlds" tone of the show. I'm finding that if I think of the show on those terms, it's much easier to enjoy. John Glover was great I thought as was the final scene with Clark and Martha. Lara being Clark's first word was a very cool detail.

I choked up during this episode, the last scene with Clark and Martha that is. I think Welling and O'Toole handled it wonderfully. Great scene. It was the scene that made me like Welling as an actor.
If you're looking for Lex episodes, check out Fracture from season seven. I know it's floating around on the interweb.

He played a Kryptonian by the name of Dax-Ur. He helped build Brainiac or something. His character had been living on Earth for a long time.

Just watched Apocalypse and dammit if it was a very entertaining episode. I actually bought Welling as Supes/Clark especially after he donned the glasses and told that old woman "I never give up." I actually gave out a little "yeah!" at that moment.
I think Masters is an excellent Brainiac from what I've seen and Supergirl seems to have been done pretty well. All suprises to me personally.
I'm sure it would help to watch these in some kind of order but whatever. I'm really enjoying them at the moment. I'm actually considering buying the seasons for myself at some point.
