That's okay. Miss Lane will be driving by any minute."
The line delivered by Jimmy in STM. When he says "minute" the shot is of Superman flying away and the word "minute" is echoed implying Superman hears him. Now my question is was this done for the Extended version when it was released on DVD back in 2001 or whatever year it was. Because up until then I've watched my VHS copy from the ABC broadcast and I don't ever remember that echo being there. I'm too lazy to check the theatrical cut dvd so I figured I'd ask. Either way, it's a very nice little touch.

It might have been enhanced in the 2001 version since Mr Thau remastered the sound.

Here's a thought, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Jimmy is at Hoover Dam. Lois is in California. Superman can easily transverse these distances so that isn't a problem, but how were Lois and Jimmy going to meet up, or even on the same assignment for that matter? Those two locations are hours away and Hoover Dam, which is in Nevada, is much to far from the faultline to be involved in the land scheme story.
I submit this plothole for your evaluation.

As far as I know, it isn't in California where Lois is.
As Perry White himself says, "She's out west" checking on the land fraud deal. Makes it a bit more vague.
Also, this earthquake is supposed to affect the entire west coast. So it better be friggin' huge.

I refuse to consider there are any mistakes/faults/errors/problems in STM. So la la la la, I don't want to know... Yes I'm in denial - I shouldn't have clicked this thread... ;D

( that an jor-el being dead for thousands of years when krypton blows up in 1938 and superman appears in 1978 )

(Btw, Krypton exploded in 1948 according to Luthor.)

okay so i just checked the 3 different copies of STM that i have. the HD and the theatrical cut and extended cut from the newest box set. all the audio is from the 2001 remastered version. i made sure by checking the scene where superman first changes in the revolving door and the horrible whooshing sound is there. i was under the impression that the newest box set contained the original theatrical audio to go along with the theatrical cut. am i wrong?

I don't think Lois and Jimmy are so far apart. Jimmy was obviously with Lois on assignment, and we're never told WHAT dam he's at. It's a dam, not necessarily Hoover Dam.

It won't be the original 1978 audio unless you have the replacement issued by Warner. Pretty much all the theatrical cuts of STM on DVD have the wrong audio. So that's probably why it doesn't seem different.

Yep, we all had to go through the ordeal of getting the replacements disk. God, was that inconvenient. I was really looking forward to seeing Supes III bonus stuff when I first got the box set, only to find Warners made a boo-boo. It was worth the wait, methinks.

You have to select the original audio in the options on the dvd.
I made the same mistake.

ah...i didn't realize that english 5.1 was thau and english was theatrical. it automatically would go to 5.1 so i thought it only had the new mix. i just listened to the scene with jimmy and there is no effect added on when he says "minute." so far this is the only nice touch i noticed with the thau version.
