Several weeks ago TVShowsonDVD.com passed along word from ToonZone that the DC Animation group's panel at the San Diego Comic Con had this to say: Some news was revealed regarding the November 25th Blu-ray two-disc release of Superman: Doomsday. Extra features will include four bonus episodes of Superman the Animated Series hand-picked by Bruce Timm and 128 minutes worth of extra content. Warner Home Video has now formally announced that both a Blu-ray Special Edition version of "Superman: Doomsday" ($29.99 SRP) as well as a DVD 2-Disc set ($24.98 SRP) will be released on Tuesday, November 25th. Both releases will contain the following list of bonus material: -Audio Commentary by Producer Bruce Timm, Writer Duane Capizzi, Voice Director Andrea Romano and Executive Producer Gregory Noveck -4 Bonus Episodes from Superman: The Animated Series, selected by Bruce Timm (NEW to the Special Edition) -Documentary: "Requiem and Rebirth: Superman Lives!" - About how the DC Comics team decided Superman's fate -Featurette: "Behind the Voice" -Featurette: "When Heroes Die: The Making of Superman: Doomsday" (NEW to the Special Edition) -Featurette: "Clash of the Juggernauts" (NEW to the Special Edition) -Sneak Peek at DC Universe's Justice League: The New Frontier -Sneak Peek at DC Universe's Feb. 2009 release of Wonder Woman (NEW to the Special Edition)

That sounds alright, but I'm betting that its not gonna have too much extra. I'm guessing the extra disc will be similar to Justice League New Frontier's second disc.

I saw a listing for this, too. Was suprised to see an expanded re-release (though 2-discs for animated films usually don't have a whole lot to offer). On one hand, glad to see that sales for an animated superhero film can warrant a re-release. On the other hand, this is one of the few times that I thought Bruce Timm REALLY dropped the ball on an animated project. (If he hated the original comics as he'd suggested in interviews, then he shouldn't have done a comic that promoted it was based on it. The movie isn't bad, but incredibly misleading, based on its marketing campaign. I'd thought it'd be a close adaptation of the Death of Superman/Year without Superman comics that had come out, but it's really not even close.)

This is a project that could have been great. Ended up being a huge P.O.S.!
I wish WB would give Batman Mask of the Phantasm a Special Edition.

A few cool moments, a lot better than Braniac Attacks but overall only worth one viewing.

it would be beyond even WB's considerable ability to shovel crap to do a film worse than " brainiac attacks ".
as such, " doomsday " is ok. its a fun slugfest. lotsa punching.
i had this on dvd but gave it to a buddy, so maybe i'll get the bluray.

Hated this. A real missed opportunity. Voice cast was second rate. Dull, too short, weird designs that tried too hard to depart from the "Timm-verse" style, but weren't different enough to merit the trying.

Shoulda brought back the STAS and JLU crew, made it a direct sequel to those, and did a PROPER 2 hour adaptation with the multiple Supermen, Mongul, etc.

To me, the biggest insult is how much the marketing department tried to make it seem like it was based on the 'death of Superman' comics- only to find out that Timm HATED those issues and only slightly used anything from them.
Why not just call it something else? There was a lot of good stuff in that "Death of Superman" series (and the comix following his death). Dismissing it is one thing, but implying in the advertising that it's a faithful adaptation when it's not is another.
Still....Bruce Timm did an awesome JLA series, so he's worth forgiving... (but, man, whatta lost opportunity!) ;o

How does a cartoon work in blu-ray exactly apart from extras??!?! It's like The Simpsons movie, I saw the trailer in hd and premiered on TV on a HD channel and the picture looked absolutely horrible - understandably for a cartoon.
