Well whatever anyone's personal feelings are toward Jim Bowers are, is this thread really the place to be venting them? He's not here to reply to them and it's not on topic. There's a few really snide and bitchy comments been left in this thread already, I would think it best to give it a rest before this thread devolves any further.

I like Jim & I appreciate the effort he goes through to gather & archive all that great Reeve stuff.

his website is excellent and from memory he's a very polite guy.
But he definitely has some weird thing when it comes to Reeve footage, I mean complaining about a joke being disrespectful, fucks sake who cares.

Not really getting the negativity here towards Jim. Yes the video is funny as heck so he has taken it the wrong way, but I appreciate the work he puts into his image archiving and website.
I don't know him personally but he has always been courteous when I've spoken to him online.

Jim is a nice guy, yes, very protective of Reeve's legacy, but at least he' not harming anyone.
BTW, Warners owns the photos Jim has. Michael Thau found a box of negatives in 2000 at Pinewood and decided to give them to Jim. That's one treasure I would loved to have had for superman cinema.

That's very cool of Thau to do! All the negativity towards Thau in fact is purely (for my part) is that he ruined SII uninentionally by horrible decisons. Seemed like a nice guy in interviews, but given how completing SII was the holy grail so many fans were waiting for, for decades- hard not to still be bugged by it.

I've started noticing that its always the same people who are so ready to make fun of & personally insult someone nice.
Next person to insult Jim personally like that, goes bye bye for awhile.
Period.
Jim is a nice guy & is doing a fantastic job of gathering & preserving alot of stuff that would probably have never seen the light of day without him.

Nobody is flat out calling him a c**t or anything I'm sure he's OK in real life. Just his obsessiveness and possessiveness comes across as creepy to some people. I guess if you can't handle that opinion you'll have to ban/suspend me. Not sure what purpose it'll serve but whatever

That would certainly be harsh. He hardly even posts on the forum, and aside from the thing about Reeve's corpse, nothing was really that bad. You guys must be a fucking barrel of laughs on a night out if that vid is disrespectful and the comments are deemed strong enough for a ban!
Any admin want to delete the thread feel free before anyone ends up gone!

I do think it sadly amusing that the words 'creepy' can be slung out so easily on persons--- considering its from a forum made up of mostly (if not solely) males who obsess about a fictional character wearing a cape, blue tights and red underpants on the outside.
I'm fairly sure WE'RE all considered pretty creepy and overly-devotional and strange by the mainstream.
I could be wrong, but...... maybe food for thought when labelling 'strange' and 'creepy'....

Just to reiterate. I think Jim's website is fantastic, from memory he is a very polite and nice bloke. I'm grateful that we've got the images he's provided is.
I was merely making jokes because I personally find it daft that anyone would take a video like that seriously, nothing more nothing less.

That's funny.... I'm just now watching the 'complete' Seinfeld seasons, and am amazed how many 'Superman' (and the movie) tributes there've been so far.... in addition to having a Superman sticker on the Seinfeld refrigerator AND (later seasons) the DC Superman statue on the bookshelf in just about every episode. ((Plus the 'Lois' episode, where they directly have Jerry run with the John Williams' STM theme))
Oddly, the 'sorta-sequel series' "Curb your Enthusiasm" has NO Superman references, which I think just emphasizes how much Seinfeld (and not Larry David apparently) was a fan of the caped one.
If 'Seinfeld' continued, I have a feeling Jerry S. would have snuck in references to SR as well into the show....

There was a "Bizzaro" episode as well when Elaine became friends with these three other guys and they looked just like Jerry, George & Kramer.
