What gets on my nerves is this whole Welling Vs Routh shit. I don`t know if any of you guys read other Superman boards but it`s crazy how anyone who supports Routh has to hate Welling and vice-versa. yeah, I f'ucking hate the mutual exclusion shit that goes on with Internet discussions. You either like SW or LotR as another example, there are no grey areas Well, I like Reeve, Routh and George Reeves. Welling is watchable but I do feel its mostly the material he's given to work with and WB making him look as young as possible. If he looked more natural and was given a good script and without his history with SV I wonder if people would accept him more? Like Routh, I find him pretty likable in his interviews.

I've never seen the 50s TV show. But I do like Reeve, Routh, and Welling. I was a fan of the show, and with the material Welling is given, he does it well. He's definitely a good pre-Superman Clark. I don't understand that mutual exclusivity either. I like Star Trek and Star Wars, Bond and Bourne, LOTR and Star Wars, DC and Marvel, dogs and cats, and Coke and Pepsi.

I love Reeve & Routh, but never cared that much for Reeve s. I dont dislike him, but was never a huge fan. I honestly have just never been able to stand Welling. I gave him the benefit of a doubt for 3 seasons & then figured out that either hes really just that terrible, or is never gonna be given anything real to work with. I'm also not too keen on him in interviews. He doesn't seem to bright, & seems to have been briefed on what he needs too know in case a fan grills him. He just always seems like a not so bright teenager. I just dont dig him at all.

Why can't we all just live in har-mon-yyyyyyy? ;D *pulls out ukulele and s'mores and stokes fire* Seriously, I never understand how so many people have never heard of the concept of "agreeing to disagree" and leaving it at that. It's like my co-best friend and I; she hates a lot of the movies I love, but that doesn't stop us from being BFF. No sweat. Personally, I don't much care for Tom and Smallville, but it's not like I feel a deep, obsessive-compulsive need to go trolling online to express the fiery passionate loathing of a thousand burning nuns. When the show began I eagerly watched, figuring it was going to be "omg totally awesome," but the train of opportunity for truly compelling storylines already passed the station ages ago, for me. It pretty much just devolved into Dawson's Creek with superpowers. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's your average hormonal horny teenager. *waits for mob of hormonal horny teenagers to rip me apart* I almost never related to my peers. Their drama just doesn't interest me. But do I have anything against Tom personally? Nah. I just don't care enough for that. ;D (Gah, can you imagine if a Smallville show had been more like Superman: For All Seasons and would later evolve with tinges of early Birthright? *salivates*)

Do you realise how this thread looks when you read some of the comments about how Tom Welling looks like this and that? Makes this look like a bloody gay bar. LOL! Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

"Tom Welling for Superman" ... I once felt this way.
Then I saw Superman Returns and I got over it fast.
Smallville really sucks hind teat these days. I'd pay to see a movie about Chloe Sullivan. That's about it.

Can't wait to see what Welling is able to do with the Geoff Johns written Legion Of Superheroes episode!!!! Betcha anything we get a tease of him in costume for that one. Even if it's a "future image".
I think that given good material, Welling could make a fine Superman. He just...rarely is given good material.
ye5man's post said it all, really.

I think whats turning people off Welling is what Smallville has done to the Superman Mythos bringing characters into the show from the Daily Planet. It was too Back to the Future to handle.
Anyway, I think Routh will be bigger and even better in the suit next time round.

And he finally bought a house now, so he has no excuse for not taking a suit home and displaying it properly. ;D

The fact that Al&Miles aren't around for this season is *GASP* actually tempting me to check out the season premiere. If the moon turns red and the skies rain blood, you'll know I tuned in. ;D
