I could totally be wrong, but given how much love Singer had for the Donnerverse and given that he was given a wide berth (as he put it in interviews) for reintroducing Superman, I'd like to think he had something in mind the second the brought the kid in.
He's said on his crew meeting on the SR bts dvd that he was prone to changing his mind often- (scary but since most of his films have great quality control, who cares)- but having the kid is such a big potential creative dead end--- that I'd like to think he figured out something to do with the kid.
If he REALLY was 'winging it' ---- then that's a lotta ballz to go with fixing or undoing for a continuation. It'd be perfect if it was definitely intended for an ending, but it didn't seem like he was planning to walk away from it during the time following it.
(Would love it if those creative sessions with the writers while brainstorming stuff for the sequel were actually recorded on video and released--- heck, why not? The internet's gotten many other great 'almost made' materials over the years- ie. Darabont's Indy IV script, etc.)

And I could see Kev talking to Singer, saying ... "Tell me everything, starting with the crystals."

It definitely seems like a smart thing to do, if brainstorming all the different options for a story to go... even if it never becomes a dvd extra. I do wonder how often these things are commonplace to get recorded in Hollywood (if they are).

Yeah nobody realized how badly things went at the time. BvS was as close as we got and that made things even worse.

I actually did like BvS better than MOS .... maybe because it was more of a Batman story than a Superman story. Snyder arguably did the best Batman action sequences. I have to give him that.

The Batman stuff is the best part of the movie. That and Wonder Woman’s debut. But the Superman stuff is the worst.
I think MOS is the better film on a creative and technical level though. Snyder felt more kept in check on MOS. Working on BvS is where he gave in to his worst tendencies as a director. Snyder with no guidance or restrictions is him at his worst.

I think there's good stuff in both that can be extracted, but.... in a good film, you shouldn't have to do any extracting.

When it comes to those movies I wish I could go back and extract myself from the movie theater when I first saw them.
