This is COMPLETELY off topic, but you know what I'd love to see? Gerard Christopher's Lois and Clark screentest. He apparently blew them away, and they offered him the role until they found out he had been Superboy.

Any Italians here? I don't think so. Any way, this movie is coming out next month in Italy. And for those interested, here is a poster and a link with an article and a gallery with stills from the movie at the bottom of the page, Link: www.everyeye.it/cinema/notizia/dylan-dog-una-nuova-galleria-fotografica-in-hd-e-gli-estratti-dal-pressbook_90649Here is also a recent pic (from January in LA) from a screening of Edgar Wright movies. I recognize Tarantino in the back, Simon Pegg next to Edgar, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson (she played a character in Scott Pilgrim) and Brandon. Enjoy,

Cool stuff, Gazer. I think Brandon has great potential, but there seems to be two categories of actors (in general):
1. Actors who keep on training, doing theatre work, continuing to take classes and workshops to keep sharp, etc. (Jessica Lange took this route after being laughed off the screen in "King Kong"- went back to classes/etc.--- then ended up winning an Academy Award years later)
2. Actors who stay in their comfort zone.
I think he has some NATURAL charm and charisma, and he's already been born looking like Superman- but with Reeve- he's always lived in theatre & seemed to be an EXTREMELY competitive person & took acting seriously (more serious than some of his co-stars that he'd get frustrated with in some non-Superman films as well)..... so, I've always been interested in checking out his films, because of the intense seriousness he's had behind the scenes in it.
Not to say Brandon doesn't have the same. I don't know. I know from "SR" and "Chuck" he has a lot of God-given gifts, but I guess time will tell whether or not he plans to be someone who's working to be a character actor who lives forever with the acting world or if he (not that anything's wrong with it) is an actor who is seeing where things take him.
He's a good actor. He was a great Superman. Time will tell what happens next. Count me as one who is curious as well where he goes from here. (Starring in a JLA movie I wouldn't mind if that comes up for him)

BTW- Does Tarantino look awfully red in that picture? Would love to be a fly on that wall if Tarantino was able to pull Brandon aside at that show and share his thoughts on SR....

I've liked him in most of what he has done, plus he's so good looking so that helps too. I just hope he continues acting in good/interesting roles in quality projects, and improving/growing as an actor. I don't really care if he never stars in blockbuster movies or doesn't become an A lister. I just want him to continue acting in good stuff, that's all.

I also think it'll be really nice if he starred in a top quality Superman TV series. I'd love to see him in that.

Well, hopefully he's savvy enough (or his manager & agent are) to know how to maneuver through Hollywood so that he can find the right projects (or generate his own perhaps).
Either he can end up with a career like Tom Cruise (who people forget was pretty savvy & smart in the beginning of his career to pick the right roles for himself & put love of his work above partying out & being put into rehab)..... or a career like Casper Van Diem (the Starship Troopers guy).
Choosing to be the villain in "Chuck" (when the show was still great) and being supervegan in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World"* were fantastic choices so far. Hopefully "Dylan Dog" continues that streak....
(* I know "Scott Pilgrim" was a giant disappointment boxoffice wise, but the cult status just keeps growing from what I can tell from people I run into....)

I started watching it back in August 2009 when they announced that Brandon would be guest starring.

Agreed Agreed as well! ;D So, have you been watching season 4 of Chuck? I have, and sadly it's sucking. Hard. The showrunners are just doing too much fan serving, and the writing it's VERY lazy. I know Chuck has always had lots of plot holes, but never this much. The only thing really enjoyable has been Dalton as Volkoff. Though I feel like he's too goofy at times. If the writing continues to suck I hope there is no more seasons. Well, at least the first 3 seasons were really good. I love them. It's a really great film, imo, so I think it'll be fine with time. It already has a cult following, and the dvds are selling well. It also opens in Japan in April due to fan demand. I expect the Japanese to like it a lot since the film it's pretty much geared to that audience.

I've tuned in here and there.... and, yeah- it's REALLY painful. The series had different points where it would have been nice to wrap everything up- but now EVERYTHING feels incredibly forced.
I feel bad for the actors. (Especially Zach Levi, who lost 'Thor' but might lose this series, too) When a show gets to this stage, it's even hard to look at other episodes as well.
I most likely will get the 4th season dvd, just to complete the set... but.... wondering if viewing the whole thing at once will just make me end up hating the whole series by putting such a bad taste in my mouth.
Sad...
But back to Routh, I do wonder what it is that Reeve did (assuming he did) differently than Routh, right after "Superman". It seems like Reeve's career took off a lot faster- and it's hard to identify if: (1) it's just a case of luck (movies he got being greenlit faster) or (2) if Reeve was more aggressive (who knows?) or (3) if Hollywood was more aggressive over getting Reeve at the time to star in films or (4) it just looks like Reeve had a bigger career boost- & that there are too many factors to know.
Though one thing for sure: Reeve had two blockbusters built in with Donner directing STM and SII at the same time.
Man, it stirs up missing the Singer/Routh MOS again.
Anyhow, the plus/minus for both Reeve and Routh had to be their looks. Keaton and Bale are good looking guys, but they also look like they could pass through a crowd of people, too.
Arnold had/has a specific look and size (and certain acting limitations) that he (or his agent) knew what 'niche' was perfect for him. For the most part, what incredibly smart choices. He made sort of a 'brand name' for himself in movies.
I remember working on the side at movie rental store years back, & one of the joys was being able to listen to people chatter amongst themselves about why they liked certain movies and stars (pre-internet). With Arnold (and Tom Cruise similiarly at the time) starring in a movie, you knew what you got. And people liked it. He chose to be a (sortof family friendly) action hero with a sense of humor and no need for a lot of thinking in watching his films.
Tom Cruise sort of alternated between chosing the 'genre' films and 'cocky young guy conquers the world but learns a lesson by the end' films- he knew how to tailor his projects to fit his strengths. And, of course, he's still (I believe) the biggest box office champ, even if lately the crowds have started to tire a bit of him.
So, that's why I think in many ways this seems like a really interesting stage to watch Routh.... if he & his agent plays their cards right, it could be great to see. (Crossing fingers)

I see you aren't really a hardcore fan, otherwise you'd know the title of every episode and what happened in them. I'm a big fan of the first 3 seasons, but I don't consider myself a really hardcore fan since I don't really obsess about the show and the characters. I mean, compared to other fans I'm like very normal. ;D Some fans act as if these characters were real. It's annoying, tbh.

And predictable. There is no real tension anymore. Season 4 is 'Chuck lite'. I think the showrunners are simply playing it too safe and aren't taking risks like they used to in previous seasons. And I think the reason is that they listen to the Chuck/Sarah shippers too much; these fans didn't like the darkness of season 3, and wanted Chuck and Sarah together and in love forever.... ;D That's what they really care about the show, so if the spy story and comedy suck, it's ok as long as the C/S romance is on fire.. I obviously am not into all that, I do appreciate it a little but too much is nausiating, lol. I also hated how poorly the Chuck character was portrayed this season (too whiny and insecure). It didn't make sense in context with how much his character developed last season. The mama Bartowski story also didn't work or made sense, imo. Plus Linda Hamilton apparently forgot how to act. Yeah me too. Both Zach and Yvonne are talented actors and deserve better. Oh no! That's sad. Personally, I love the first 3 seasons so much, and nothing could make me feel otherwise. It used to be such a charming show. I wish I knew what Brandon and his agent did wrong. I guess it was a mix of several factors like poor advice (to Brandon from his agent), poor decisions, or maybe he was too trusting and naive and not agressive enough. He lost a great opportunity when SR first came out, he had a lot of good press and should have come out with some type of movie soon after SR like a romantic comedy or a drama. But he didn't. Sigh. I just hope that now that he's older and more experienced, that he has a better plan for his career and becomes more agressive and serious about it. He's married now and needs to provide for his family, lol. ;D I just root for the guy you know, I'm a big fan and want to see more of his work. BTW, his wife is an actress too, she's gonna be in the next season of True Blood. You have a point. I guess looking like Superman isn't always a plus in this career perhaps? Yeah *crosses fingers too*

I especially liked the episodes with Brandon in them. I'm hoping the new movie Brandon is in gets released over here or will be available for rental at some point and on DVD.

The movie was filmed in the US and in English; they dubbed their voices for the Italian audiences it seems. There is still no news on a US release date. I'll let you know when I hear something.

I really wouldn't doubt it if it goes DTV in the states. This movie has been around for awhile and no one has picked it up. I cannot imagine why Lionsgate or Anchor Bay hasn't shown interest, they release A LOT of shit, you'd think this film would be right up their ally.
