Would everyone have been happy?
Joss Whedon is a comic book geek. He likes his films with a sense of humor, but with substance.
If Man of Steel were more lighthearted, would it be a turnoff?

I don't know that Whedon's style would go well with Superman, honestly. I really don't. Superman doesn't quip. Whedon's would. heck, EVERYONE would quip in a Whedon Superman movie. Even Jonathan Kent would have something hilarious to say at some point, probably.

That's not impossible.... at times, Whedon is willing to let go of some reality for a cartoon laugh (Hulk punching out Thor after punching out a ton of aliens) now and then.
But- when it's time for the drama, Whedon definitely knows how to deliver. Some of the episodes of "Buffy" and "Angel" written/directed by him are as heart-wrenching as you can get.
Still- Whedon is a true fanboy, I do wonder what his take on Superman would look like now and then, though....

Whedon would be better for Justice League than he would be for Superman because that would give him a outlet for ALL his talents as a writer. But I think he could pull off Superman. His Superman movie wouldn't be as stylish as Snyder's but it would be a better overall film with a good mix of drama action and fun and humor. Whedon also knows how to write VILLAINS. Wed have to prepare ourselves to watch arguably the best Luthor ever if it were Whedons version. He'd have some fantastic dialogue.
If a Whedon Superman movie had to have jokes and one liners and quips make Jimmy Olsen the outlet for most of the humor. Him and Lois. I'd love to here Lois with Whedon dialogue. She'd be sharper than ever.
He'd also be better for a Wonder Woman movie. He excels at writing strong female characters.
But yeah Id prefer him for Justice League. Especially as a writer. The man was born to write Hal Jordan. The big thing that Whedon would be weak on is the epic iconic visuals. He did ok with that stuff in Avengers but there are directors with far better eyes for great imagery. Not saying Whedons a slouche but a JLA movies action and even some still moments should awe you.

Absolutely. Story/character wise, Avengers rocked. Visually--- felt like I was watching an expensive tv movie for much of it.

He did the 2017 Justice League and it sucked He was working around Snyder’s sh!t material and all the limitations that came with that. He didn’t get to craft his own JL movie from the ground up. With the exception of the awful Cgi face he still gave us the best version of Cavill Superman. Still it’s kind of interesting that I sort of called a Whedon JL years before it happened even if he was a replacement.

He did the 2017 Justice League and it sucked I thought it was okay.... but I did actually enjoy the Snyder cut (For the most part) despite some groany moments. It can't hold a candle to the Donner stuff or the better Marvel or X-men films for sure, but it isn't "Catwoman" or "Elektra"...
