Assuming everyone gives STM 10 out of 10, what's your rating for MOS?
I've skipped a few numbers, for instance 10/10, but please explain why if you do give it 10!
I would go with 8, but since I have enjoyed the movie so much even on a 5th viewing, I'm tempted to go with 9!
I know there's a big negative backlash at the moment that it wasn't better or even more successful, but I am fully satisfied and just hope for greater things with MOS 2.
Also interested to see who really thinks it only deserves 1 or none out of 10! Surely noone unless you just want to stir things up!

This poll offends my sensibilities. You skip all the even numbers except 8? DO YOU THINK THIS IS A F%&KING GAME?! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! 5/10.

I'd give it a 7/10. Like Enrique said that's being generous. Sometimes I feel like giving it a 6.5 to be honest.

5/10.
The first half is 8. Third quarter is 3. Final quarter is 1.
Weighted average = 5.

5/10. The first half is 8. Third quarter is 3. Final quarter is 1. Weighted average = 5. Before the punching begins = 6 Then it steadily drops from there... In all those flashbacks we don't get one moment where he loves that he is different, where he has some fun with it? He's a kid for chr!st's sake. Instead we get wall-to-wall sadness. Dragonfly and Pa's suicide are the cherry on top. At least they went old school with a tornado instead of a rope or shotgun. Although maybe that's to set up his return in the sequel since they never find the body. Some people survive those things.

We are averaging 6.5/10 so far!
I also agree the final third of the movie is a let down despite all the action, but it turns out, what we all wanted and what was missing from Superman Returns was the one thing that really brought Man of Steel down!

Lol...I wanted to give it a 6.5 too. WB went in the total opposite direction of SR when it came to the action. Overkill. Not only that but they had no idea how to do it. The final fight between Zod and Superman was like watching a kid smash his toys together. Snyder was the kid.

EIGHTEEN out of ten. The rest of you don't love it enough, so I have to pick up the slack.

Just curious, would we really give STM 10/10?
If we were to see it for the first time now, what would you give it?
I would probably give it 7/10 thanks to the crap with Lex and Otis and the turning back the world retardation.

Even on first view, I had issues with Lex as real estate villain and turning back the world--- though I loved the bit where Supes screams and remembers both fathers' words.
But- on viewing SII--- I actually enjoyed Lex as he played off of the Phantom Zone Criminals- and saw why Donner envisioned Lex as he did, when STM/SII were originally two parts of the same film.
I don't think I'd ever rate STM 10/10--- but I'd still rate it the highest of the Superman films.

On another note, it would probably have been better to include ALL the numbers 1-10..... more accurate view of how people on the board view the film....

I love it but its not perfect. I'd give very VERY few films 10/10. SII does another thing that puts it over MOS. Its clear Donner and co were also thinking about how do to create drama with these super powered beings fighting. In II its never one on one for very long. In MOS that's a trap they fall into at the end. In SII Superman's always the underdog because he's against superior numbers. I see what MOS wanted with a man to man final confrontation. That's cool but it works better when the characters are actually vulnerable and can lose big if they slip up. It was very hard for Zod and Superman to hurt each other.

I agree---But I don't think that was the only problem with the action scenes in MOS. The truly odd thing is that I was looking FORWARD to Snyder's action sequences in MOS- as much as I bash Snyder's handling of dramatic sequences.... I'm one of the few that have loved his action sequences in Sucker Punch and 300.. but in MOS his action scenes were just too chaotic/and/or just played tooooo fast, with no buildup in the editing, nor really interesting choreography in staging the superhero battles. I really think he was influenced a little too much from "Chronicle", where the superhero fights were from the 'person on the street''s point of view (thus, the blur and superspeed constantly)... worked great in 'Chronicle', but I don't think it worked at all in MOS....

Interesting to hear that few would even give STM 10 out of 10.
In that case, I'll go to Don's Diner to ask you to all list the films that you would give 10 out of 10.
And I'm not asking you to put Citizen Kane or The Godfather just because you think that's what they deserve, but the films that you truly love and cannot live without. The films that are 10 out of 10 to you!
Anyway, over to Don's Diner...

I would've gave it a 6, but since there was no 6, I gave it a 5.
Edit: Screw this, I made a proper poll.
