It came out as I expected to be honest. I was never sure about Snyder but knew he'd produce a good couple of trailers. I still liked the film but it lacked a dramatic punch like all of his others.
Anyone who expected anything more was probably fooling themselves.

Those three trailers STILL give me goosebumps. Particularly that first one.

The trailers never did anything for me, and they were pretty accurate: mopey, sad, expressionless Superman.
The only thing in the trailers I liked was Zod's fiery "I WILL FIND HIM!!!"
It was the only passion shown by the cast.

The last trailer and few tv spots fooled me into thinking the film might be something deeper and something special. I started to get hope and get excited. Ah well. The trailers really did present the film as something more than it was but I guess that's what trailers do so I shouldn't be surprised. Dredd and its trailers were the exact opposite.

Agreed.... I'll give Bay and Snyder this- Now and then, they can make AWESOME trailers.
I didn't care for Pearl Harbor the movie, but they had one trailer (with music from "Thin Red Line") that is/was fantastic.

Don Henley lamented the end of the innocence back in the day.

I must be crazy, but as I've said before. I think the trailers depicted the tone of the finished film. I got exactly what I was expecting [based on the trailers] from the finished film. I actually have a hard time understanding how so many think otherwise. But, to each their own.

Ah...so you expected the finished film to be fairly stupid and lifeless.

You're right. They didn't point out enough problems with MOS. but then they only had so much print space and so much tv time to work with.
But nothing they did was as lazy as MOS's "writer" and "director"...and I use those terms loosely.

Its funny this cottage industry of MoS hating/bashing.
its almost religous in nature. Like scientology or voodoo.

One could say the same thing about the MOS apologists and overly sensitive defenders.
If there is an industry Snyder provided plenty of shitty stuff for raw materials.

I haven't disliked any snyder work that I've seen.
Never saw sucker punch. He's not my favorite director ever, but the maligning he endured is phenomenal.

Don Henley lamented the end of the innocence back in the day. My fave tracks from that record are "If dirt were dollars" and "I will not go quietly" Awesome record.

Lol. I get it. But youre still telling the wrong guy Jimbo. It's the other guy getting his panties twisted because he doesn't like what he reads. You're one to talk, Jor.

His visuals (most of the time) are fantastic.... and I do appreciate that he got A Watchmen movie made, versus none.
But- I think sucker punch, that he wrote/directed was SO badly conceived (It feels much like a well-intentioned soft porn film that tries to be respected as Schindler's List)... and his massacre of some of the main points of Watchmen set him up for the criticism.
No everyone agrees, of course. There's a chunk of fandom that really likes Watchmen- but that's where I'm coming from, anyways. Watchmen had the chance to give much more respect to the superhero film, based on its material, that it's painful because one knows what could have been, from reading the book. Visually fantastic, though.
