I was slightly disappointed by the scene when I first saw it as it felt brushed over compared to how I thought it would be based on the trailer. I expected it to be a bigger moment further into the film.
But that's my fault for taking the images from the trailer and guessing how the film would be based on them. It's never a good idea to go into a film with any preconceived notions as things often don't live up to, let alone exceed, your expectations. A trailer is an advert after all.

I think the scene looked impressive and so did Cavill.
but something was missing. there was no sense of build up. no feeling of danger.

As usual you are a hard line brainwashed extremist when it comes to EVERYTHING. makes no difference to me how many threads those guys make. I don't love em or hate em automatically. If they got something interesting to say then Ill participate. But they don't ruin my day. We've done a crapload of threads over and over so your exaggeration makes no sense. NOW you suddenly harp on it because its about film you bust many a nut over as soon as you get the chance. We've talked about the most minute stuff in these movies to death over and over in very short periods of time. You can push that hazy propaganda bullshit complaining about all these new threads if you want but it's a laughable example of you blowing something out of proportion to make it seem worse than it is. As usual. Well said Metallo. Threads keep this place alive. Jor really wants to contain ALL MoS talk to one thread? Man you should have been here 10 years ago and seen all the threads on one subject! nobody had OCD in those days thank goodness. |

I liked the way it jumped from the baby landing on Earth straight to the fishing boat scene and oil rig rescue.
If they had continued with landing on Earth and the parents discovering the baby etc., it would just be a retread of scenes in STM.
I loved the oil rig rescue but would certainly have preferred more rescue scenes like that than the endless CGI fight scenes.

WHOA-HO! how am I the extremist when OTHERS are making the same threads over and over= making the same points over and over as if it were new? thats pretty extreme propaganda right there. its not enough to rail against an item in ONE thread- but some need to make a dozen threads to say the exact same thing. once again, you are projecting, accusing others of what it is you are doing. no, i dont want/need ALL mos threads merged. maybe just ...a third of them. its getting unwieldy. when i posted the 'rant" about threads i included a pic from "the big lebowski"- the scene where carl pulls a gun during a bowling match. it was hyperbole. it was me making fun of myself. not "OCD". |

People point out their own "facts" about the movie and you still try to prove them wrong.let me try this again. when i say "FACTS" i'm talking about literal, tangible things. not opinions. you're grossly mis-characterizing me (as per usual) but thats fine. i dont care that some people love/like/meh/hate man of steel. some of my bets friends in REAL life are on this board. one fella might really like it, and we have that in common. one of them might be unimpressed but whatever about it and thats no biggie. another one might have zero interest in it at all- but he's still brother to me. so, no, i dont get bent if people disagree with me. my wife and i dont agree on anything and i love her so...  as you often say- its a discussion board, we discuss. the point of a debate is the contest of ideas and perspectives. of course im going to vocalize when i disagree, or "atta boy!" when i do agree. we're all doing that. as to facts vs opinions, let me to you another way. take MoS out of it a second, and look at superman 2. back when the dvd's first came out in one of the docs, or commentaries Mank was annoyed by a critic who asserted that " under LESTER gene hackman as lex luthor had a better performance (or something to that effect)". obviously mank knew that LESTER did not direct a single scene of gene hackman in either film. it could be any critics OPINION that hackman is better in S2, but in FACT lester did not direct hackamn in S2. thats what i mean. ive heard plenty of accusations about MoS that have no basis in fact. im not accusing YOU of that- its just that ive seen it everywhere. there are several instances where ive heard " why didnt superman do THIS or THAT?" when in fact superman DID do the thing in question or positively DID NOT do the egregious thing he is accused of. as to the redundant threads- you can not possibly believe that many of them are simply trolling and baiting. for example: how many threads for the krypton key? that was trolling.

And people have pointed out some "facts" to you about the film to you but you still go on into your MOS fantasy parade and ignore them. There are certain structural problems with the film that you never seem to bring up when you kiss the films ass and complain about the haters. As for the threads...most of them have asked questions some of us are interested in. Some of em have even been pretty damn funny. the MOS command key threads like someone said maybe the guy doesn't speak English very well. I still don't let it bother me that much. The stupid part is you fall right into the trap if they are baiting you. Stop fucking doing it and maybe they will stop. |

For what? I've read it. Most of the "problems" you listed was just stuff you wanted more of. I'm talking about the REAL problems with the way the film was put together and how it executed its selling points. If the film was so great if wouldn't have all the problems of does. A lot of people couldn't even tell if the family Zod threatened lived or died. Did they get away? Where'd they go? I know but a lot of people were confused. Yet that was supposed to be a critical scene in the film. One random family shows up but where is everyone else? Is the city empty or not? They say Superman killed to learn what it meant but beyond a scream there was no emotional burden later. And despite all that talk of the real world reacting to all this the film does a rush job ending and glosses over it. I shouldn't have to see the sequel to see what they promised in this one.
