And yeah Snyder and Goyer DID say the film was going to be a real world reaction to events depicted and the arrival of aliens and the film itself raised the same questions about what people's reactions might be of all this stuff went down. But in the film we hardly see it after the heavy shit goes down. How would Metropolis and the USA and the world react if an alien invasion and battle left a major American city partially in ruins and who knows how many were killed? If some giant machine was terraforming earth? We don't know because the movie pretty much skips right the fuck over it over it. Then that was their mistake in promotion. However, most people didn't see that, the film itself doesn't state it's especially realistic. It starts on an alien planet with people speaking English. Of course it's fantasy. Again, you wanted them to deal with that stuff, the film never did. It wasn't ruined, you just thought it would be more.

The question is, if some of us think it wasn't ruined literally WHATSOEVER, then what is your response? We are wrong? We are stupid for liking MOS? What's the deal? Are all you clowns right because it disappointed you and all of us rejects are fucking morons because we liked it? Explain, please! You're all so goddamn smart and enlightened, then PLEASE, tell us, why we are WRONG in our own opinion?

Melv how the fuck is it a mistake in promotion when Jonathan Kent AND Perry White bring up how the world would react if people knew someone like Superman existed? Maybe you skipped that part but yes the film DID bring it up. But by the end a sizable chunk of Metropolis basically got LEVELED and all we got was Steve Lombard trolling the Planet for a piece of pussy by asking who was going to a ball game with him. Really? all we got was the reaction of a few military people. Despite all the epic destruction that went down. And the filmmakers tried to present the film as realistic. That's the problem. They went for realism but it ended up being the most absurd fantasy because it was so half assed in the execution of so many things. The film has Faora raise the stakes by talking about how many people they'll kill but at the end what we get us a stupid sanitized level of video game violence for children. That's why I said a while back even Robocop 2 understood what you need to do when there's a confrontation between two powerful opponents like that. So did Superman II.

Well.... at least it's still moving. To be fair.... unless something new comes out, what else can it really do?

Talk about everything else there is to talk about in the world. We ain't limited to Superman. There's an entire other SECTION of the board devoted to things NOT Superman based. What, do couples only talk about kids and when they run out of things to talk about regarding their kids, they have another one? No!

The whole "first contact" thing really was a wasted opportunity. Yes, it was built up beforehand and even in the movie itself.
But when Kal-El's existence is actually discovered, no-one seems to give a fuck that aliens exist. They're more concerned about appearing on chat shows and talking about what Kal-El should do.
Jonathan Kent kept on going on about how the truth would change everything about what people believe and what it means to be human. I didn't see any of that happening though.
No-one seemed to question anything about our beliefs or what it means to be human. Instead, they comment that they "just think he's kinda hot."

I definitely wanted more of that, too. Like I said before, it should've been two movies, it rushed a bit too much into one.

Yes, an entire movie about Krypton. Part 2 = Kal-El growing up on Earth, finding out who he is, first contact with aliens Part 3 = Zod and co. arriving

Its interesting that when ATP is being serous he contributes the most intelligent ideas.
If MoS is setting itself more in the "real world" then it would be great to explore people's reactions.

Well- I meant specifically the 'Superman in Movies & TV' section of the board. Until there's anything new with the film- (or the past films)- for the most part- how can it not end up with the same discussion for right now? That's all I'm sayin'.

Yes, he really did die for nothing. He should have told Clark, "When the world finds out what you can do, it's gonna change everything. Our... our beliefs, our notions of what it means to be kinda hot... everything."

Our... our beliefs, our notions of what it means to be kinda hot... everything." Great points, though. Supes being revealed to the world was the buildup--- but there was no real payoff. It should have been BIGGER than the reveal in STM--- I was fine with the lockup first- but the reveal to the world later was a bit of a non-event. If they were introducing this point, it would have been interesting to see (roughly) the international fallout from it- would everyone try to claim him as their own 'weapon'? I'll admit that Goyer has introducing interesting ideas and possibilities in his scripts, but it's not always followed through well. (His Blade tv show is a good example. Or bad example.)

"My father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they'd flirt with me. He was convinced that the world would say I was kinda hot. What do you think?"
