Gotham Tonight. All episodes in one video. I really enjoyed these when they came out. It was like getting to experience things in Nolans Gotham as a citizen for a few minutes. I always gave credit for the effort on these type of tie-ins with the same actors but for some reason usually felt slightly ‘off’ to me from the actual movie- and not sure exactly why (outside of lower budget). The exception might be the newer Blade Runner shorts that were top notch.

It’s the tone. It’s totally different from the film. That was never an issue for me because theyre supposed to be a mock news broadcast and not a film. A similar thing happened with Snyder’s mock Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen news specials. They also feel outside of the world somewhat tonally speaking. It would bother me if these were all put into the films but they’re smartly separate features that are more viral marketing than anything else. When you do stuff like that in the film it has to match like the Media Break news broadcasts in the Robocop films. What’s interesting is how those predicted what tv news is now especially cable news.
Most of the blade runner 2049 shorts were side stories weren’t they? A little bit of a different beast. I think a mix of the two is what Scott did with the Alien prequels. Some shorts were mock ads or commercials and others where actual short films. I think he went morrntye Robocop route by trying to replicate the tone of the films with something like Weylands TED talk.

1984 Fan made Aquaman college student short film.
This was uploaded by the director himself. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen this in good quality and not a third generation vhs copy.

Pretty odd to hear but still cool. I’m surprised it syncs up so well. I guess Conroy read the dialogue for someone on some show.

The Lobo paramilitary Christmas special.
Wish there was a better quality version online. At the time it was one of the best fan films IMO. Wish Andrew Bryniarski was actually used as Lobo in something official since he was pretty good.

If Joker does well, I could see this happening asap.... though I'm definitely not a fan of the Lobo character as anti-hero. I'd rather classic Blue Beetle got a chance for the big screen.

I thought there were some pretty glaring omissions (robins debut, 1964s new look, Neil Adams run, killing joke) and a little too much for the dark knight films but for a fan made short I thought this was really good.

Those are some pretty telling numbers. Not at all surprising though.

The amazing thing to me is that in the Dark Knight... I did notice he wasn't in it that much- but the amount he was in was PERFECT for that film.
I mostly liked Batman Begins, but Dark Knight just had me grinning like an idiot throughout. It really should have been nominated for best picture that year.

I think Dark Knight was so constantly riveting and interesting that people didn’t notice. In previous films it sometimes got dull when Batman wasn’t around because they didn’t do a good enough job making everything else interesting.

I remember reading that Nicholson's Joker originally had a smaller part, but because of the $$$ being paid to him, they beefed his presence up, but it didn't necessarily make it a better movie.... so I glad and suprised when Bale's Batman presence wasn't increased at the sacrifice to a great story.

Makes sense. Everyone wants their moneys worth. Even with less Joker Burtons movie still had some of the same problems. Batman Begins was the first time they’d really delved that deep into the Bruce Wayne stuff and it’s the most interesting he’d ever been because of it. People weren’t just counting down the time until Batman suited up.

Those are some pretty telling numbers. Not at all surprising though. These numbers are inaccurate. Bruce Wayne’s screen time doesn’t count. This thread has an accurate account of BATMAN’s screen time: forums.superherohype.com/threads/which-movie-has-the-most-bat-screen-time.335105/I have the same thoughts for Batman Returns. I hated how Batman just kept popping up literally out of nowhere in The Dark Knight and how he had to keep speaking long speeches with that gravely voice. Every moment counts with Burton’s Batman.

They’re probably counting them as he same person...which they are. You could say the title is misleading but if they’re counting ONE character then the numbers seem to make sense.

The point in the Honest Trailer was specific about Batman when he’s in costume. That percentage for The Dark Knight Rises is highly inaccurate for this “study,” as the costumed Batman appears far less than in Batman Returns.

I’m not specifically talking about what Honest trailers said just the numbers. You’re assuming they came up with this data and didn’t repurpose it from research someone else did online. Like I said the title could be argued to be misleading but not necessarily the numbers if they’re counted as one person. There have been times when Bruce Wayne has considered himself “Batman” even when he’s not in the suit.

The suit is what counts. People don’t come to a Batman film just to see Bruce Wayne in a tux or his casual wear.
