Supergirls new costume Not sure how I feel about this. It’s overdue for some updates but losing classic elements is a disappointment. It was one of the better suits in the CW/DC Universe. New one isn't as bad as the newest Flash suit but not as good as the newest Green Arrow suit. There’s more piping/seams for a more tight armored look. Also looks like she has that not so great Superman style cape attachment. One positive is she might have gold behind the S shield. It’s hard to tell. It looks like it’s taking some cues from the armored Supergirl suit, the Red Daughter suit, and the Overgirl suit. Not to mention influences from several comic book incarnations of Supergirl. bookriot.com/2018/07/12/supergirl-costume-rankings/Guess Benoist liked wearing pants. She has great legs so it’s a shame to cover them up even more. I don’t think the knee high boot design works as well with the pants either. Really don’t like the hairstyle. Works for Kara but a little mousey/mom cut for Supergirl. Here a candid photo.

I hate it. It's worse than the Superman suit with the clasps on the cape & the hairstyle adds ten years in this photo, imo.

www.darkhorizons.com/brooks-exits-jordan-visits-supergirl/Not surprised. I do feel kinda bad for Brooks since it wasn’t his fault. The reinvention of Jimmy could have worked but he still felt a little miscast. They’ve never really known what to do with Jimmy from the beginning. He left Metropolis to go to national city to get a fresh start on his own. Why there? Never made much sense outside of tying the show to Superman’s history to help launch it. They tried the romance with Kara that felt forced and was quickly dropped. They made him Guardian to give him something to do. That sputtered out. They made him the boss at Catco but that never seemed very important and just took time away from the main plot. They gave him the romance with Lena. That kinda worked but we know that’s not going to last. They gave him super powers. That felt like a desperate gimmick to give him a purpose. I honestly thought him getting shot was how they were going to write him out. Jimmy was a superfluous character on this show. Winn was a far better fit and a bigger loss when Jordan departed. The only reason James Olsen was on the show was the same reason Jimmy was in the Supergirl movie: to tie it to Superman. As the show has established itself and it’s own identity there’s no need for that anymore.

Agreed... the actor has a lot of charisma but might have worked better as black lightning instead. He is/was the Deanna Troy of SH.

The departures keep on coming. www.darkhorizons.com/routh-ford-leaving-legends-of-tomorrow/This sucks. I liked Routh a lot on the show. Sara Lance is a great lead and captain but I always thought of Ray as the heart of he show. Some of the relationships have diminished somewhat with cast turnover but they’ll really lose something without the Nate/Ray bromance and the Ray/Mick comedy.

I don't get it....did something bad happen behind the scenes? If this was a mutual decision.... will Routh still play Superman in the Crisis miniseries? I'm going to be majorly bummed if he's not wearing the suit AGAIN...

As far as I know Routh is still playing Superman. His last episode will probably be after Crisis. LOT is returning mid season while the crossover starts in December before the new season of LOT begins airing. LOT will pick up with the last few episodes of COIE. Lots of rumors back and forth on why Routh and his wife are leaving. Some places are saying it’s not his choice. I tend to believe that. I think it’s a combination of business and creative decisions. Routh is an original cast member and at this point he’s probably due a raise. Legends of Tomorrow’s budget has been noticeably reduced and I think that has to do with the ratings which are down.
There are less special effects heavy episodes, less episodes where people use their powers, and they rarely ever put on their costumes now. We hardly see the ATOM suit anymore. They’ve also minimized (no pun intended) Rouths role the last couple of seasons. Seems like they have no real interest in his character or crafting stories where he’s front and center anymore. I think all these things together led to the decision to write him out of the show. They won’t get rid of Caity Lotz because her character is the leader and she seems to be the lead of the show. Heatwave is the comic relief and his heat gun probably costs a lot less than the Atom suit.
Routh may not necessarily want to go but at the same time he might not be too broken up about it either. That grind and spending so much time in Canada is probably hard on their families. They also have a young son so that probably makes it even harder. It’s why Amell is leaving and Arrow is ending and why so many cast members have left all the shows over the years. They were burnt out and ready for something else. They (The Rouths) also aren’t getting any younger and while that steady paycheck is great they are missing a lot of other opportunities they can go for because of the LOT schedule and filming location. That’s why Jeremy Jordan left Supergirl, why Victor Garber left LOT, and why Emily Richards and Willa Holland left Arrow. You could tell they were all ready to go. Even Mechad Brooks got an opportunity to do the new Mortal Kombat Movie now that he’s not busy with Supergirl anymore.
The good thing is unless they kill a character there’s always an opportunity to come back and even then they can still bring the actor back with the whole multiverse deal and time travel. They brought Jax, Roy Harper, Ronnie Raymond, Henry Allen, Tommy Merlyn, Harrison Wells, Vandal Savage, John Constantine, Cat Grant, and others all back in some form after they were written out of their respective shows and were no longer series regulars. I’ve got a feeling that even with Routh leaving we will see him return as Ray Palmer one day.

I know that there was a show called "The Practice" where the ratings went down & they got rid of the top two or three leads because they were the highest paid- so that they could go on for another season with the lesser paid actors... (but it didn't help as it got cancelled one season later). Hopefully Routh and his family saved their pennies.... but after the Superman Returns disappointment- they had to feel like there really is/was no certainty anywhere--- but it's odd because he was just at Comic con promoting the show.... It would be nice if WB is actually reconsidering using him as Supes on the big screen if the crossover goes well... who knows considering all the crazy things we thought was never going to happen again but did at this point...

That’s the life of an actor. Even the big time ones. There are no guarantees. I’m sure Crowe and Depp were expecting to make big money from Dark Universe that ain’t happening. That goes extra for television. You can have a job today but it can be gone tomorrow. See Krypton, The Gifted, Daredevil, Legion, and a slew of other recent shows. Goyer had a seven year plan for Krypton and I just thought don’t count your chickens before their hatched, David. I knew it wouldn’t get that far.
Even the lead isn’t safe. It’s not always their choice to go. Kim Dickens on Fear The Walking Dead, Jerry OConnell on Sliders, John Newton on Superboy. Plenty more.

Honestly, even though I bought the dvd, I haven't even been able to get through ONE season of Krypton... it's so dour and dry- not unlike his other show, Blade.

Seems like the Arrow spinoff is actually going to happen or at least they’re going to try. I like the Canaries but I’m not sure any of them can carry their own series. Oliver Queens daughter from the future definitely gives me doubts. The flash forwards are the dullest parts of Arrow and the characters are just kind of dull. If I were them I’d try Birds of Prey again except with Arrowverse characters but it’s probably off limits because of the movie.

I dunno...

Has a lot of similarities for sure but I’d rather they just outright do it. Again. But obviously they can’t and what they’re doing is even less interesting to me. They’d be better off putting another woman in that lead role. Even then I’m not sure they could carry a show.

It’ll be interesting to see how they explain this. Karas sister Alex becomes Supergirl? Do they merge? Alternate reality? MXY up to his usual shenanigans? It’s very silver age.

Love the Star Trek parody. They should try to get Koenig and Takei in for guest spots. Koenigs health might not be the best but I’m shocked they haven’t gotten George for a guest spot.

That looks awesome! I have a couple of the blu rays but have yet to watch them. I'm glad that they decided to go 'comedy' with season 2 (from what I've heard), but pity that they didn't hook into what worked best until then... when viewership dropped off.

Looks like all CW shows will be held back until January at the earliest and may at the latest.
Never seen anything like this for a networks entire slate of shows for a season. This means Supergirl and Legends will be off for nearly a year. Guess that solves the problem of how to deal with Melissa Benoists pregnancy.
At least it gives me time to catch up on some stuff. Wonder if every network will do it like this? They might not have a choice unless they already have enough episodes or the whole season in the can like Agents of Shield on ABC. It could also be a blessing in disguise if it helps them refine episodes and deliver better quality. They’ve got more than enough time to write. It’s the actual productions that will be difficult with all the covid restrictions I’m sure will be in place.

Looks like Ruby Rose is leaving Batwoman. variety.com/2020/tv/news/batwoman-ruby-rose-exit-season-2-1234611163/amp/Wow. That’s pretty surprising but on some level...not. I always wondered why she took the role in the first place. She was more well known than most of the other younger CW stars and had some higher profile jobs before Batwoman. Why take a lead on a CW superhero show of all things? She’s shooting in Vancouver for most of the year and that would limit her other job opportunities. Curious to know what went down if it wasn’t the back injury. I’ve wondered if she had some personal problems since it looks to me like she’s lost a lot of weight. Did she take the money for a steady paycheck for a year and never intended to stick with the show for the long term? I’ve wondered about that too. Did this damme virus and extra down time just helped her make up her mind and give her an “out?” I liked her but not the best actress so she can be replaced. I don’t like recastings because they break my suspension of disbelief and take me right out of the show but this could still work out fine. It’s just a question of do they end up with someone who is better and a good fit or worse and not a good fit. It could go either way. We’ve seen some shows survive when things like this happen and others limp along before they’re cancelled because things didn’t work out. Either way it’s going to be interesting to find out what exactly went on behind the scenes that led to this.

I don't like recastings either for the reasons you mentioned... but after listening to the podcast with Stephen Amell about what the life is like for a lead on a CW show- I can't quite blame her if she discovered how consuming it could be life wise... but, yikes. I wonder if the CW/Berlianti is suddenly gaining new appreciation for the lead actors of their shows that didn't quit after one year....

Living and commuting Between LA and Vancouver has to be hard on all these people (especially the supergirl cast since they moved production from LA to Vancouver and the cast had to change their lives around) but it really shows why it’s important to get actors with a lot of experience working in tv who know what that commitment is like. Most of the other Arrowverse leads had that but I felt Rose was an exception. Sure she done tv but not as the lead and not on that kind of Schedule. That’s why I was surprised Rose took the job. Not only was she more well known than most of the others but it didn’t seem to fit her.
