The Movie Greats Channel In Australia will be showing all 4 Christopher Reeve Superman films in October
Superman The Movie-October 4th at 8:30
Superman II-October 11th at 8-30
Superman III-October 18 at 8-30
Superman IV The Quest For Peace-October 25th at 8-30
I will try and get some promos for these films if i can will be interesting to see the promo for Superman IV hahaha
I'm sure ollie will get them done ;D ;D

I saw an ad for the films in the October issue of Austar magazine.
It's been a while since Superman IV last aired on Aussie screens. The last I can recall is when the 7 Network showed it as a midday movie more than 10 years ago.
The other three Reeve films have had airings in recent years. STM on Movie Greats (and on the Sci-Fi Channel too at one point, I believe), S2 on Sci-Fi, and S3 on the Nine Network (and in HD too).
Wonder if Superman IV will be shown with the tornado and Russia scenes. Really doubt it though.

Yeah I'm pretty sure SIV has only been shown once in Australia and as you say SGB that was at least 12 years ago.

And once was enough...
I always hold out hope that we'll see the extended STM and the RIC again on channel 9.
Honestly I reckon they'd still have good copies in the studios in Willoughby. I remember taping the RIC as recently as 1994. I also remember taping STM and needing to use two tapes (but earlier than that)

The first time I saw it on TV was when the 7 Network aired it during a 'Movies with Muscle' themed showcase (along with Conan, Rocky IV and T1, and possibly Masters Of The Universe as well). The second time I saw it on TV was for the midday movie showing I mentioned. It's possible they still have the broadcast master. STM extended? That was in 1990, I think. I remember that pretty well. I saw the film listed in TV Week as being 4 hours long (with commercials), so I bought a 4 hour blank tape and used it to tape the film. I recall having to spend the night at my grandmother's house so I could use her VCR to record the film as I didn't have a working VCR at the time. I also remember that after STM extended was finished they showed an episode of Superboy. It was the one where Metallo was introduced. I remember the network voice-over speaking during STM's end credits saying "Before fighting crime as a man, he fought just as many battles as SUPERBOY, up next!". |

Yep it was STM extended, about 1990 sounds right.

I used to have one of the S2 theatrical airings on tape as well but threw it out when the movie came out on DVD in 2001.
I kept a tape of one of the S4 airings because I taped an episode of Superboy on it, but that tape has gone missing. Gargh!

Didn't record it though as I didn't have the DVD recorder going.

I've been trying. Whenever I have the DVD recorder going the promo isn't shown. GRR!!!  However, I do have an STM promo they've been airing. It's been shown before for previous airings of the film. It's the one that has the voiceover saying "Christopher Reeve in the role that made him a legend". |
