www.darkhorizons.com/cavills-man-of-steel-2-stalled-in-negotiations/Jives with what we’ve heard before. Cavill should lower his demands or take WBs deal. The films underperformed and while he’s got his fans most people could take or leave him. Most don’t even know his name. He's got no bargaining power and hasn’t really earned any of what he’s asking for. What else has he got going on? Superman at least gives him a platform. Sounds like he has a big head. With Aquaman making over a billion WBs proven they don’t need him or Superman for now. They could eventually just wait out his contract, wait a few years, then reboot Superman with none of the baggage of the Snyder era.

With the JLA sort of continuity - and Batfleck leaving.... what a mess. I think it wouldn't look so bad if the MCU wasn't just doing everything so well. Personally, I was okay with Cavill if we weren't going to have Routh back.... but this is messier than the whole thing with Sony and SPiderman- but with Spiderman, while I still have some agitation with how it's shaken out.... overall I'm ok with the overall MCU with young Spiderman in it. i don't like that there's no origin story blended in somewhat for the new Spiderman (for completions' sake)- and I do miss some of the truer translations of the supporting characters (i.e. Flash Thompson changed and no Harry Osbourne, no J. Jonah Jameson?) so even though I enjoy the new Spiderman films, it's hard to embrace them as 'canon'.

Cavill should agree to do it, but demand that WB release a proper version of S2.

LOL! He should demand that they release a proper version of Man of Steel first.

If they were stand alone and they let Cavill go they could just reboot Superman with a new actor with no issues. The problem is the DCUE is a mix of successes and failures. It’s all tied together. It’ll be pretty awkward to keep part of the universe going with Wonder Woman and Aquaman while having reboots happening off to the side with Batman and Superman that take place in different universes. It’s like them cutting off one of their arms and trying to replace that lack of productivity with another person doing some of their work with their arms. It’s all very convoluted and overly complicated. With Spider-Man Disney/Marvel and Sony could integrate him into a whole new and popular universe after the reboot and use that as an extra selling point. WB would be doing the opposite. They’d be taking Superman out of an unpopular universe for a whole new rebooted version. I think it would look bad if the mcu didn’t exist but with the mcu to compare it to it makes it look a whole lot worse.

It's hard to say if it's even messier or equal to how Fox messed up the continuities with its own X-men films. Hard to say....

In some ways better in some ways worse so it’s equal in different ways. The X-men franchise started on a high while the DCEU started on a low. The X-men films really had one continuity even with the two timelines and the messed it up because they didn’t care to make it all work together. They’re all connected but the connections aren’t consistent.
With DCEU the problem was since they started with some misfires they’ve had to fix things after the run has started. It wasn’t that they didn’t care it was that they screwed up. Now that’s lead multiple continuity’s where some films are connected and some films aren’t. It can be confusing especially to the average person. You know a lot of people are going to wonder if Phillips Joker and Reeves Batman are connected and if either is connected to the DCEU.
